Take your singing to the next level, wherever you are, by practicing with a pro.

Hi there! My name is Caity Dotson and I am a vocalist. I have just graduated with my Bachelors Music Therapy degree with a focus in voice. However, as a student music therapist I am proficient in piano, guitar, and drums. I am also the founder of my university's co-ed A Cappella Group. I am starting an internship with the Fairfax County Public Schools starting this fall but will still have availability after school hours. My dream is to spread my love of music and its healing nature to everyone I can. As your music teacher, I would be able to teach the foundations of music including the theory, structure, and history of musical literature. I would also be able to provide you information on more advanced topics such as arranging, writing, and performing music. I can't wait to speak with you about possibly being your new music instructor!

    About Caity D.

I am a student Music Therapist. I've just graduated from my university and am about to start my internship with FCPS. Officially I am a vocalist, however as I have studied music therapy, I am now proficient in guitar, piano, and drums. In my lessons I will be able to provide you sufficient information on the basics of music, as well as assisting you in your musical growth. If you already have a firm grasp of your instrument, I will be able to provide advanced training through professional techniques during your lesson. I'm so glad you're taking steps to further your musical knowledge and I can't wait to meet you!

    Experience

    Private Piano Instructor

    May, 2018 - Present

    Private

During my piano lessons, I am able to provide the basic knowledge of scales and chords. There are many tips and tricks to learning to sight read and arrange music. I also encourage my students to learn the music that is their preference.

Director of Co-Ed A Cappella Group

    Aug, 2016 - Jun, 2020

    Radford University

A Cappella has always been dear and near to my heart. RU had no a co-Ed cappella group when I was a freshman. So myself and some friends decided it was time to change the norm. From freshman to senior year we performed professionally at music festivals, open mic nights, and a cappella competitions. We would vote for the songs we’d like to perform and I would arrange the music from scratch. This made us unique and original on campus.

    Music Teacher Assistant

    Sep, 2015 - Jun, 2016

    FCPS

During my senior year of high school at CVHS, I worked with my choir teacher as an assistant to the intermediate choir. My responsibilities including facilitating vocal warm ups, tutoring in sight reading, and managing all-district choir auditions.
