    Experienced clarinetist of 17 years. All ages and skill levels welcome. I work hard to create a personalized lesson plan for every single student, working in your unique strengths and skills to hone you into the best clarinetist you can be. Together, we will build a strong foundation in clarinet playing and musicianship and become thoughtful, creative, and exceptional clarinet players. Whether your goal is to improve at the clarinet or to hone your skills for high school, college scholarship, or concerto auditions, I have you covered. Current and former students have won statewide and regional performance competitions, earned music scholarships, and have placed into the top bands in their middle school, high school, or university. No matter what, you will get a ton better at the clarinet and have fun along the way!

    About Brian S.

    Hello! I am a professional clarinetist, composer, and music educator based in the Seattle area. I hold a Master’s in Music degree in Clarinet Performance from the University of Washington and Bachelor’s of Arts degrees in Clarinet Performance and Music Composition from Whitworth University, having studied with Ben Lulich, Dr. Del Hungerford, Brent Edstrom, Richard Strauch, and Thomas Shook. I teach clarinet and composition lessons at any age and skill level. I have played the clarinet for 17 years, and have composed for 10 years. I teach students to read music and pursue musical excellence every lesson, and I tailor my lesson plans to fit each and every student. I am a founding member of a wind quintet called Winds5. We are all highly trained professional musicians, and we perform all around the city. I also perform regularly with many orchestras and ensembles around Seattle and beyond. As a composer, I am a two-time finalist for the prestigious American Prize in Composition, and I am an avid music producer as well.
