Piano with Brian E.

I've been playing the piano for over 30 years and teaching for more than 15. I graduated from Grinnell College in 2007 with a degree in music, primarily focused on piano. I've been teaching ever since, both independently and at a private school until recently. I've had great success in helping students learn to read music. This can be challenging but is a very rewarding skill to have. I have learned a lot about what some people find confusing about music notation. There are questions they don't know to ask that I can often set them straight on. But this isn't what everyone wants. Some people just want to learn some songs that they will know forever, and I've also helped students learn their favorite music by imitation and repetition, with great results. This too is a delicate art that can be individually tailored to you. I think the most important thing when you study piano is that you enjoy it and make progress you are proud of.
