I have been studying music my entire life. I first sat down at the piano at four years old and have never strayed. After attending a performing arts high school, I studied music composition and theory at San Francisco Conservatory of Music. My studies not only enhanced my passion for music, but gave me an understanding of it and the listening experience. My desire to share this love and excitement led me to become a piano teacher. Developing my own teaching practice has required intense organizational skills and independent motivation and enhanced my ability to work with others as I interact with my students, their teachers, and parents. In this position, I have had the pleasure of expanding my students’ musical understanding by introducing them to new and different styles and genres of music.

Benjamin is the best teacher ever, talented, nice and open to every type of music you want to learn!
Ben is patient when I am moving slowly through exersizes, he makes sure that I really understand how to read music and he is the #1 reason for me being able to learn the piano. He is very encouraging and I'd recomend him to anybody who seriously wants to learn how to play!+ Read More
Benjamin was really awesome. Definitely recommend!
Benjamin is a great teacher and a talented musician. It is obvious that he loves music and wants to share that love of music. His lessons are fun and flexible, as he tailors the content to the student’s interests. He has a very large collection of music and I found that he was excellent at selecting music that stretched my ability while still being within reach of learning. I have only been playing for a year, but I was very surprised at how quickly Benjamin was able to help me get beautiful sounding music to come out of the piano. I highly recommend.+ Read More
Ben is a very talented teacher who has greatly taught and enriched my daughters piano playing. Ben has cleverly and quickly taught music theory as well as composition and so much more! At the end of lessons he freely composes beautiful music with her, which has contributed greatly to her love of piano playing....she even would like to write her own songs and now freely goes on her own to play the piano while we cook dinner! He challenges her and yet patiently helps her build the skills and tools needed to for a strong understanding of the fundamentals and foundations of music. I highly recommend Ben as a teacher, he is absolutely one of the strongest and most lovable teachers out there!+ Read More
Great first lesson
Very good at reassuring me when I'm stressed out from the piece I'm learning... which is all the time. He is very helpful and really knows his stuff!!
Benjamin is excellent, a music theory whisperer. In a few hours, my son went from a complete block to totally understanding and completing of all the music theory he was assigned. Most of all, he now understands the concepts and application and use. Really amazing work, incredible teacher. Can't say enough.+ Read More
I'm a beginner piano player. Somehow Ben got me to actually play and read music which is amazing because I always though it was too difficult. He constantly keeps me on my toes with different songs, theory lessons, exercises, book suggestions, the list goes on. And he'll totally catch you if you try to cheat finger techniques (which is what I do constantly), but he's not harsh about it.
If you want to learn piano and theory, he's your guy.
Benjamin is awesome! I'm a pianist and composer. I was taking from a guy who was kind of strict and stifling as to what I could and couldn't do. There was nothing really creative about it, and I needed to free up my creativity somehow.
I think the music I'm writing now is much better. Using improvisation and new ways of thinking, I've gained great new perspective on the music I write, the music I play, and my creative process in general. Basically, Benjamin helps me to stop censoring myself. I have lots more material to choose from. It can be overwhelming, but in a great way.
Benjamin is friendly and encouraging and most importantly super creative and musical. He works you hard, but he's an easygoing nonjudgmental guy and I recommend him without hesitation for anybody wanting to grow musically.
Wonderful Piano Teacher!
I've always wanted to learn how to play the piano but was afraid that my lack of experience and measly understanding of music might squash that dream. Despite my reservations, I began taking lessons with Benjamin last year and have been blown away by my experience. His vast understanding of music and easy-going demeanor have made my music lessons very enjoyable. I'm now able to understand music in a whole new way, and with his help simplifying some of it for me, I can even play a few of my favorite tunes. I'm so happy I started taking lessons with him and totally recommend his services!
Ben is an amazing teacher -- clearly knows his stuff but is happy to pare it down to your skill level and goals. His is a patient and thoughtful teacher who doesn't just stick to the book, but also teaches improvisational and music theory skills along hte way. Highly recommended.
Great, patient teacher
Ben is a patient, kind teacher who clearly prepares unique lessons (for your interests and skill level) ahead of time and takes things at your pace. He keeps his eyes out for ways to take your piano playing to the next level and you make clear progress working with him. Highly recommend.
Outstanding piano teacher!
Benjamin is a really excellent piano teacher. He's very focused on getting the very best from his students, and combines rigor with intuition to achieve great results. I've been taking lessons from him for over three years and I am just so impressed with how much I've learned, and continue to learn under his tutelage. He's the best, and I wholeheartedly endorse his many skills!
My 8 year old daughter has been taking piano lessons from Benjamin for several months now and it is great to see how she really enjoys her lessons while making strides on the piano. Benjamin is helping my daughter to build a foundation in music and the fact that Benjamin makes it fun for her will contribute to her continuing to grow musically. He is punctual and professional. When we have needed to reschedule he has been very accomodating and flexible. Great teacher and great guy all around.
