Advanced Piano Lessons - Improve Your Technique and Musicianship!

In my teaching, articulation and dynamic control are of utmost importance. I focus on precise positioning and movements of the fingers, arms, and body in order to navigate the keyboard. Basic principles of conducting, string instrument playing, and wind instrument playing are some tools that can inform musical decisions.

    About Ben G.

Ben Gimm is a pianist local to the Portland metropolitan area. As a younger musician, he grew up playing keyboard instruments, saxophone, and double bass in a multitude of ensembles including woodwind-brass bands, youth symphony groups, and professional stage production pit orchestras. His studies began at the age of five. As a performer, critics describe Ben as cerebral, a tremendously sensitive collaborator, and, according to British pianist Murray McLachlan, "Extremely talented." He made his debut in local competitions, and most notably won one of seven top spots across the U.S. in the MTNA Chamber Strings Competition.
