I have been teaching since 2013 as a music instructor. Currently I teach at 3 music schools; EKS in Quincy, Bach to Rock in Wellesley, and Piano Playtime in Milton and Arlington. I also currently work as a section leader or ringer for First Parish Church in Lexington. I also frequently perform in private residences with a small chamber group I call "Sole Durato" or setting sun in Italian. We also perform at various retirement homes and music festivals such as Newbury Nights and the Caspian Music Mondays series in Vermont. In the past I have also worked as a pop and jazz singer at various restaurants playing anywhere from 4-6 times per week.

From Roberta Hodson, whose granddaughter takes voice lessons from Austin Burns Not only does our granddaughter benefit from Austin’s expertise in voice but she also thoroughly enjoys her lessons with him. Austin shows through his teaching style that he has a strong grasp of the dynamics of child behavior. I highly recommend Austin Burns for his teaching abilities and his expertise in voice.

Fabulous person to work with! Splendid instructor and performer. It's an honour to share the stage with him as well as teach music together at the EKS music school in Quincy. The only regret you might have with Austin is that you didn't start studying with him earlier! Guaranteed satisfaction :)

I am Austin's voice teacher at the New England Conservatory where he recently completed his Master's Degree in Vocal Performance. Austin has done outstanding work refining his technique and knowledge of vocal pedagogy. The transformation to his singing and overall performing is nothing short of miraculous. You will find Austin to be highly intellectual, patient, and empathetic to your vocal development. I am confident that he know possesses all of the knowledge and tools to effectively diagnose and correct vocal faults with singers of all voice types. Austin is a champion for the vocal arts and he will be a champion for you so may reach your fullest vocal potential. I highly recommend Austin Burns for young singers in particular. I know you will have a rewarding experience with this talented and passionate young performer.

I have over 6 years experience analyzing music. My background in composition fostered a love of analysis that I carried to my graduate studies as a classical vocalist. As a graduate student, I analyzed nearly all my recital music including several tonally ambiguous pieces by Charles Ives. Though I have trained as a performer of classical music I have also performed many gigs of popular music where I have developed a large repertoire of 4 hours of music. To achieve this, I became proficient in reading and transposing lead sheets and I have a firm understanding of chord substitutions.
