Master the principles of music recording with lessons from a working professional

Having worked professionally in Los Angeles as a studio drummer/producer and recording engineer for 10 years, I have been very fortunate to have learned from some of the most talented engineers in the industry. The recording process is riddled with variables and unknowns, and many Youtube videos like to claim they have all the answers... Of course, it is not one size fits all, and what works for Youtube may be the worst choice for you and your projects! I structure all my recording lessons based on learning the fundamentals of recording, capturing a great sound from the source (no more need for 50 plugins on each track) and using the recording process as both a creative and foundational tool, to create the best music possible! By understanding the fundamentals and having a strong command of what is important, the recording process can become a creative tool to further enhance your musical message with confidence. Now having run a successful Los Angeles music production studio for many years, I have the experience to guide students through projects and help them avoid the many pitfalls that can hurt the recording process. Having made countless mistakes myself, and thus learning to solve each problem encountered, I draw upon the extensive experience and (hard-earned) successes from my career to impart on you the best practices possible. Recording is challenging! We will take a head-on approach to recording/mixing/mastering your music in a way that will enhance your music production skills across all genres and styles. More importantly, we'll have fun doing it! There's nothing better than creating great music, and I strive to enhance the music making process with each and every student to create the best end results!

Hello potential students! I have been teaching music for over eight years, and love teaching as much as music itself. As someone who started late (began drumming at age 16), and quickly progressed from complete (i.e. terrible) beginner to studying at nationally ranked CSU Northridge's jazz program, to making a full-time career as a performing and session musician in Los Angeles, I can speak from experience that all of my teachings are focused on rapid, worthwhile, and long-lasting musical skill building. No student deserves exercises for the sake of exercises! All of the information I teach has been battle-tested and proven, by both myself, and my studio of 15-20 weekly students, to help you grow and succeed in your musical pursuits. Every student deserves only the best and most useful information to inspire their musical journey. As a teacher and full-time professional musician, I strive to provide you that experience! Having spent my early career seeking out the world's best teachers and mentors (and continuing to do so), and with performance experience ranging from live television, radio airplay, and multiple tours with Grammy, Tony and Oscar winning talents, I continue to strive to be the best musician I can be, and pass that information on to you! In 2019, I played drums on over 150 professional recordings, including work with TV networks NBC, E!, MTV, and Discovery, as well as recordings for numerous indie and commercial artists. The lessons I've learned from these great experiences I hope to pass on to you, the student, in order to help you get the most out of our lessons, and to turn you into the best possible musician that you can be. Whether beginner or advanced, any genre from jazz to rock to hip hop to metal, I feel I have the knowledge to take your drumming and music-making to the highest level (and of course, have a blast doing it!) I have a passion for teaching, and would love to have you as my student.

A very fun and interactive teacher. Teaches the basics while also being fluid enough to teach the more creative side of drumming.
