I received a bachelor's in Music at Adrian College in May, 2013. I have been playing violin for many years and have performed with several orchestras including the Adrian Symphony Orchestra. I have also performed for several weddings, benefit events and recitals. On top of performing, I have been teaching lessons for five years and really enjoying working with my students. It is really rewarding for me to see my students improve and work to achieve their goals. Sharing my passion for music, especially violin, is my goal as a tutor and I look forward working with new students! *** Lesson Details *** I am really easy-going. I try to work with my students to find out what kind of music they enjoy and want to pursue. I also try to consider the goals of each individual student and tend to adjust my teaching style to their goals and aspirations. For the first lesson, I will ask you to bring music you have been working on, or would like to work on, and we will play through some of it. I will also provide music and different piece options for us to work on in the lesson. I like to let the student choose between a few selections before planning on working on a piece for an extended amount of time. My goals are to improve the students skills, reach students individual goals and most importantly: to have FUN and enjoy making music! *** Studio Equipment *** I have plenty of seating (parents are welcome to sit in on lesson), music stand, my own instrument (I cannot provide an instrument for the student, but I can advice where you can find one), keyboard (I will sometimes play along with my students), plenty of music *** Specialties *** I mostly train my students classically, but am willing to teach whatever the student is interested in. I use the Suzuki book series as well as the Muller-Rusch series for younger children.

My son Madden really enjoyed his first experience with Alicia. He's never held the violin before the lesson and did great!

I am absolutely delighted that we discovered Alicia. My daughter LOVES learning with her, and Alicia is a kind, patient, flexible and experienced teacher. It is clear that she enjoys teaching and being with children. We look forward to many more lessons with Alicia.
