Collegiate music student and ensemble performer giving lessons to all ages, beginning through intermediate levels. I've played cello for 14 years and started teaching back in 2012.
I am an individual who is passionate about learning and educating others. As a musician, I’m always learning. I have a yearning to teach others knowledge that I’ve acquired in my musical journey.
My last job was being a teacher’s aide for my string professor at Modesto Junior College. This job had me teach beginning string players basic insights of string playing, instructing my own group of intermediate leveled string players, and conducting for the Modesto Junior College String Orchestra.
Throughout my teaching career, I’ve taught students starting from 4th grade to college level. Years of teaching in a public school setting has given me skills in communicating with people of various cultures, being able to put down assertiveness and making organized lesson plans.
My teaching philosophy is to always make a goal for my students to work up to. If they don't have a goal, what's the purpose of practicing?
I like to have my students work on scales daily and have them play them for me. Along with scales I prefer to assign them an etude and a solo piece.
I offer in-home lessons in SW Portland, or can come to you(travel reimbursement rates apply).
