Lebanon High School and Northwestern University with a Bachelor of Music in Music Education. I've worked with students from ages 5-75 and enjoy all ability levels equally. I'm the Director of Music at a major downtown Pittsburgh church where I play organ, piano, and conduct the choir for weekly services.  Outside of music I love roller blading, gardening, cooking, and chasing after my 2 yr old daughter.  *** Lesson Details *** I believe that we learn best when we are having fun. Lessons are fun and flexible, yet provide appropriate musical challenges for students to master. Piano students ages five and up will benefit from using Alfred's Basic Piano Library method books, supplemented with ear training and composition exercises. My favorite piano genres are Baroque, Classical, Musicals, Pop, Blues, and Jazz.  Vocal students should be age thirteen or older and typically begin by working on familiar folk songs to develop vocal strength, breath support, and technique. Ear training, diction, and stylistic decision making are all elements covered in vocal lessons. My favorite vocal genres include Broadway, Hymnody, Folk Songs, Jazz, German Art Music, and Italian Art Music. Whatever your musical taste - I will find quality literature to suit your needs. *** Studio Equipment *** A piano, MP3 speakers, recording ability, sibelius software and midi keyboard. *** Specialties *** Kodaly, Alfred's Basic Piano Library method books, baroque keyboards, improvisation, composition, jazz, gospel.
