About Anna K.
I graduated from the University of Hartford's Hartt School in December 2017, majoring in vocal performance and music education. While at Hartt, I performed in a number of opera productions, and also presented three recitals. I went on choir tours to Italy, Germany, Hungary, and the Czech Republic, performing in scheduled and impromptu concerts across these countries. One of my favorite memories was performing a few American spirituals on the Spanish Steps in Rome, which were recorded by a Japanese television station!
As a voice teacher, I believe it is my job not to tell you how to use your voice, but to help you understand it on an anatomical level, and use that knowledge to shape how you approach any song. While my degree is specialized in classical music, I am just as comfortable with other styles, as well. I have been in a number of musicals, and have also taken lessons in pop and jazz styles. I believe that good singing is good singing regardless of genre, and hope that our time together will give you the tools for healthy vocal technique, no matter what you like to sing!
As a pianist, I studied privately for 10 years, focusing mostly on classical music, but also learning how to read chord charts and improvise. As part of my music education degree, I continued my piano studies in a group setting. I believe that learning piano can be a strong foundation for learning other instruments as well as for learning to read music. However, I also believe that learning piano is valuable simply because it is fun!
In addition to teaching music lessons, I am a professional singer with several choirs. I also volunteer as an ESL teacher for an adult literacy program. In Fall 2020, I began a master's degree program at the University of Iowa in speech-language pathology and audiology. It is my hope that this further understanding of the vocal mechanism will help me become an even more effective teacher!

Anna has been the teacher of my children for a few years. She has done such an incredible job. Before, my kids were not that great at piano, but as the incredible teacher that she is, she was able to make my children as good as they are. They went from not being able to read music to being able to sight read easier songs on sight. My children have said that they learned a lot from her and that they enjoy learning with her.

My daughter been with Miss Anna from the start of her piano lessons when everything was still physically have to be in school. We love the way she treats my daughter and she always makes the lesson an enjoyable one. Very flexible on re-scheduling class when we missed one. Communicates well with everything from sending some piano notes that my daughter ask her to teaching her some other songs aside from the songs they follow on the class music book.
Being online we thought would be hard but actually it works out so good with our schedule from school and work. Miss Anna still exceed our expectations even in a distance. She is full of energy teaching kids and dedicated with her work. Very professional and my daughter is always looking forward for her piano every week.
We highly recommend her expertise on teaching and knowledge on music and her patience with her students.

Anna is my son's piano teacher. She is always kind, encouraging, and positive. My son is learning a lot and enjoys his lessons. Having lessons with Anna has been such a blessing to my son during the pandemic. Anna is such a talented musician and teacher.

I’ve been instructed by Ana on piano for almost three years. I had zero experience with piano when I started and just wanted to explore a new hobby. Ana was always patient and encouraging, which are really important for beginners. Through her systematic instructions, I’ve made remarkable progress on my piano skill and music knowledge. I would recommend Ana to anyone who wants to explore the wonderful wonder of music.

My son has been a piano student of Anna’s for more than a year. She is a wonderful teacher! She is always so patient and encouraging! She takes the time to explain things in multiple ways because sometimes it’s best to hear as well as see it demonstrated. I can’t say enough good things about her. My son loves lessons and it’s because he has a fantastic teacher!

Anna is so wonderful and encouraging! I was so nervous to start taking voice lessons and she made the experience fun and easy! I learned so much from her and have seen massive improvements in my voice and confidence.

Anna has been my voice teacher for about a year now, and I've learned so much during this time. She's helped me gain confidence in singing, as well as teaching me the techniques and skills I needed to improve. She is kind, funny, and patient and I always look forward to my lessons with her. I highly recommend Anna to anyone looking to improve their voice and confidence.

Anna is a fantastic teacher. She's been teaching my daughter piano and voice lessons for the past few weeks. She is warm, patient, and very knowledgeable. I would recommend her for any skill level

In addition to performing at weekly Masses, I also performed at concerts with the ensemble over the years. Some highlights included a concert with Notre Dame organist Olivier Latrie, Holy Week performances with the Argentinian choir Vocal de Camara Platense, and a premiere of Julian Darius Revie's "Mass of the Divine Shepherd" at Carnegie Hall under the baton of Stephen Layton. In addition to being a member of the choir I was also a substitute cantor, and was frequently chosen to perform in smaller ensembles for televised Masses during the COVID-19 pandemic.
