Guitar with Andrew S.

I have played guitar for more than half of my life in bands, as a session musician in the studio, and by myself as a solo artist. I am self taught, which allows me to explain concepts in a way that makes sense to someone without a lot of technical knowledge. I have extensive experience with songwriting, song structuring, and music theory. I also have perfect pitch (meaning I can identify notes without a reference note, in the same way you recognize colors just by seeing them), which allows me to easily learn by hear, quickly identify notes that sound out of place and why, and allows me to have a robust understanding of notes notes and chords, and their function within a song. I mainly specialize in electric guitar in rock/heavy metal/punk rock, but also am knowledgeable in acoustic guitar playing as well. Due to playing for over 10 years, I am well versed in technique and playing style, and can offer tips that may help someone improve their technique/playing, or make playing more comfortable for them. I also have played bass guitar in bands and in the studio as a session musician, if that is of interest, as well! I enjoy listening to a very diverse range of music (rock, heavy metal, punk rock, folk, electronic, jazz, harsh noise, ambient, salsa, etc.), and am very open minded when it comes to new music. Personality wise, I am laid back, polite, and love to crack jokes and make people laugh. I'm pretty easy to get along with, and I have a great passion for music and sound, and enjoy to spreading that love to others! I am also an Audio Engineering major in college, so I also have extensive knowledge in recording, mixing, and audio technology, if that is ever of interest to you.
