About Andrew G.
I'm a drummer with 13 years experience with 7 years of teaching experience. I earned my Bachelors in Jazz at Columbia College Chicago and spent 2 years after as a professional drummer in rock, dance, jazz and salsa bands.
My hopes as a teacher is to inspire my students to want to play drums. I rarely give my students grief over not practicing; however, I do emphasize that they must practice in order to get better. I'd rather inspire my students to practice with new ideas to implement so they can understand how to teach and better themselves. I don't want to be a drill instructor.
I go into all my lessons only expecting that my students have fun and new insight to music. I don't ever give my students something to practice that I think they can't handle.
The projects I've worked on on include over 20 recordings/albums. I've played with numerous artists including Corey Henry, Stefon Harris, Benny Green, Donny McCaslin, and Wycliffe Gordon. My current projects are related to electronic production/drumming, a twitch channel, my own drum curriculum, and my own personal albums.
