    About Andrea W.

I love singing, and I love sharing that joyous experience and helping singers reach their goals. Each student is unique, and so are lessons. No one-size-fits-all lessons here: exercises are selected based on what YOU need, in the moment, to develop your voice, your individual sound, healthy technique, and the very joy of singing. I treat every student with respect and compassion and, while I take singing seriously, I never forget how much fun it is. I'm a professional jazz singer, songwriter, and recording artist. I'm out there performing in the real world and know what it takes to be a music professional. I'm a Level II certified teacher in Somatic Voicework™, an integrative method of vocal training based on function and physiology (in other words, there's no mumbo jumbo: my teaching is based on how the vocal mechanism actually works, and what's healthy). Beginners are warmly welcomed and encouraged. For some students, lessons include basic musicianship skills, and methods for developing ease, relaxation, and freer vocal expression. If you're interested in exploring improvisation, we can do that, too. I sincerely want you to have not only a skilled teacher, but also one you feel comfortable with, so please feel free to schedule a first lesson without any obligation to continue -- and, of course, feel free to write with any questions you may have. Here's what some former students have said: "Andrea is a complete professional with the pipes to back it up. She has the gift of voice and a even greater gift for being able to share that gift with others through her teaching techniques. What a wonderful experience to work with her!!" "Miss Andrea is such an amazing teacher. We do voice lessons over Skype since I am too far away to meet in person. I've learned so much from her and would never been able to be where I am now in my singing without her. Andrea always takes time to listen to my thoughts, questions, and concerns, which is so helpful, and well appreciated. I know you will adore and love her as much as I have over the years!" "At the beginning I was rather blocked, but you encouraged me. . . you were so open and friendly that I could also open up, and try to make a voice from my voice." "J has done so well with you, and has developed a love for singing. She was accepted in [2 high school] performing arts program[s]. I know that your talent aided her greatly in these accomplishments. Her music teacher is very talented and is very impressed with J's musical knowledge. Due to a scheduling mix-up, J had to be placed in a class with all seniors, but the teacher said this worked out perfectly for her, because the freshmen were very behind compared to her. We owe a lot of thanks to you."
