Hey there! The first thing I want to tell you about studying with me is that my highest priority is making it fun. I’ve found that cultivating the student’s genuine interest and enjoyment of the music learning process is the biggest contributor to progress. In the first lesson, communication is very important to me. I want to find out what you love about music, so that we can build skills which directly contribute to your musical passions. My approach with a new student involves discussing what they are hoping to get out of taking lessons. Together, we come up with a series of goals that we will work towards achieving during our sessions. I believe in tailoring the lesson to each individual student- there is no one size fits all method to learning! I welcome students of all skill levels and ages, including complete beginners! I have had significant formal musical training, as well as years of experience working as a singer and teacher. I have performed and taught in a variety of styles, including opera, classical, pop, folk, and musical theater. I have a Bachelor of Music degree, and I’m about to complete my Master’s degree in Classical Vocal Performance. I emphasize a vocal technique rooted in the classical tradition, because it provides an excellent foundation for any style the student is interested in singing. I can provide repertoire for you, and I also am open to working on pieces that you are interested in learning.
