Trombone with Amari O.

Hello!! My names is Amari and I am a trombonist, I have been playing for 10 years and am currently attending Norfolk State University. I am a senior music media major, emphasis in trombone. I currently play in a New Orleans second line style band called “Hot Gumbo Brass Band” and also a funk and R&B group called “Infinite Flava”. I have also played in the NSU jazz ensemble, NSU Jazz combo, NSU symphonic band and the marching band. Being that I’m still a student, I look to only teach kids in middle and high school. My goal is to have you on top of your game when it’s time to go back to marching band rehearsals, concert band rehearsals, scale tests. The basics, something I’m very good at teaching. My teaching started with me coming to college and just helping my colleagues out when they are having trouble with practicing something. Then I became section leader, the rest is history! I have studied with the low brass section players of the Virginia symphony orchestra, as well as my mentor in the Army band. I have been apart of the Norfolk state University spartan legion marching band since I got to school in 2016. I was assistant section leader in 2018 and head section leader in 2019 for the trombone section.
