Want to learn to play the violin? It doesn't matter if you're young or old! I have been playing the violin for 33 years and teaching for over 15 years. I love bringing music to young children, as well as adults, and hope they continue to keep it in their lives wherever life takes them. I am a trained and certified Suzuki teacher and use it's repertoire for teaching. Never heard of the Suzuki method? Try a lesson and i'll show you!

About Amanda K.

Amanda Chamberlain Kofoed, Suzuki trained and certified, began studying the violin at age four in Salt Lake City, Utah, under the direction of Deborah Moench. At age 12 she began studying with the Associate Concertmaster of the Utah Symphony, Gerald Elias. From there she attended the University of Utah and received a Bachelor of Music with emphasis in Violin Performance. Mrs. Kofoed moved to Houston, Texas in 2006 to study with Sergiu Luca at Rice University’s Shepherd School of Music and obtained her Masters degree in 2009 under the direction of Kenneth Goldsmith.

Throughout the years, she has had the privilege of attending several renowned
music festivals including the Grand Teton Music Festival, Zephyr International
Chamber Music and Festival, Aspen Music Festival, Tanglewood Music Center,
Boston University Tanglewood Institute, and Encore School for Strings. She currently is a core orchestra member of Ballet West and plays often with the Utah Symphony.

For the past 15 years, Amanda has shared her love of teaching to those in Texas and Utah. For six years she was the Spring Branch Fiddlers violin director at Memorial Drive Elementary and Hunters Creek Elementary. She also taught at various schools in the Houston area including Parker Elementary and Klein Forest High School, as well has holding a private studio out of her home. She loves bringing music to young children and hopes they continue to keep it in their lives wherever life takes them.

When not teaching, performing, or practicing, she enjoys spending her free time
with her husband and two children, as well as doing yard work and projects around the home.
