Allexa graduated from the Jazz Studies program at Sacramento State University in 2017, with her emphasis in Voice. She teaches Jazz and Pop genres, and greatly enjoys introducing students to basic music theory and ear-training concepts. She is a positive and passionate teacher, and looks forward to further developing her career in music education. Allexa has been teaching private lessons since 2013, and also directed the Vocal Jazz Lab ensemble at Sac State from 2015-2017. She started her own journey with music on the violin, and has spent many years since then developing her knowledge and passion for voice, piano, ukulele, and music theory. Allexa won numerous Downbeat Awards with the Sac State vocal jazz ensembles under the direction of Kerry Marsh and Gaw Vang. In her undergrad she performed locally with C-Sus Voices and the Sac State Jazz Singers, and individually at venues such as Shine Cafe and Naked Lounge. She was also a member of the Sacramento State Chamber Choir under the direction of Dr. Donald Kendrick. In her post-collegiate life, Allexa has taken to teaching private lessons full-time. She stays very busy with the help of her 35 students, and she wouldn't have it any other way!
