    About Allan Q.

I'm a trombonist who has a passion for performing and teaching. I'm primarily a classical trombonist and have been playing in the wind ensemble and symphony orchestra genre for most of my playing career. However, I am a huge fan and lover of the jazz genre for many years. Half of those years, I have also played in jazz ensemble. I'm currently finishing my undergraduate education at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and have performed with the school's premier wind orchestra, symphony orchestra and jazz ensemble. I have participated in three major recording projects with the UNLV Wind Orchestra and have recorded many projects with the UNLV Jazz Ensemble I. In September 2017, our UNLV Jazz Ensemble was invited to attend and perform at the 60th Monterey Jazz Festival after winning first prize in the college division at the 2017 Monterey Next Generation Jazz Festival in April 2017. Throughout my undergraduate education, I've been able to perform with the Las Vegas Philharmonic as a substitute musician on numerous occasions. I've attended the Alessi Seminar 2015 in Eugene, Oregon as an auditor, and have been a participant at the Southeast Trombone Symposium in Columbus, Georgia in 2016 and 2017. At these educational events, I have had the opportunity to study with some of the world's greatest trombonists who currently have positions in the New York Philharmonic, Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, Boston Symphony Orchestra, Metropolitan Opera Orchestra and much more. I've also I had the fantastic opportunity to perform as a musician in the Nevada Conservatory Theater's musical theater productions; Pippin (2018) and Legally Blonde (2019). One of my dreams as a teacher is to be able to pass on the knowledge, resources and experiences that I've gained over the years. My dreams were realized and achieved through the help of my teachers, mentors, family and friends over my entire music career. I wouldn't be the musician and trombonist I am today without the help of my teachers, family, friends, previous and current students and all my experiences in different genres of music. I want to help students to achieve their own goals and also hopefully guide them to become teachers of their own and to others. Let's learn together!
