Overview

Alexis attended college at the University of Delaware and graduated cum laude with a double major in Music Performance: Voice and Music Education: Choral/Vocal. During her time at the University of Delaware, she was involved in numerous musical ensembles including Collegium Musicium , and performed as a soloist on a number of occasions, including two solo recital programs and major roles in the UD Opera Theater program (UDOT).  Alexis has performed as a soloist and ensemble singer for the UD Schola Cantorum, The UD Chorale, and the Newark Symphony Chorus. Her solo performance work includes such roles as Marcellina in Le nozze di Figaro (UDOT), Despina in Cosi fan tutte (UDOT), Anna in The King and I (St. Marks Theater Co.), and Grace Farrell in the Wilmington Drama League’s production of Annie, where she received rave reviews for her “musically impressive” and “soaring” performance from The News Journal. Alexis starred again as Despina in Opera Lancaster's production of Cosi in October, 2011. She will be performing as the soprano soloist in the Newark Symphony Orchestra's Performance of Mozart's Solemn Vespers in February of 2014.

In theater, Alexis has played both comic and serious roles, including a striking female interpretation of E. K. Hornbeck in Inherit the Wind. Alexis has also worked in film, recently completing the production of Dead on Delmarva, a zombie-comedy-thriller produced by Arkham Productions scheduled to be released in 2013, and is looking forward to working with Arkham Productions again on a future film.

In addition to her acclaim as a performer, Alexis gained recognition for her work as a choral conductor and voice teacher, working with the UD Opera Theater Chorus, New Ark United Church of Christ adult and children's ensembles, and was the music director for the production of Les Miserables at Mt. Pleasant High School. Alexis currently works as a vocal coach for The Tatnall School as well as the as the assistant conductor for The Episcopal Church of the Advent in Kennett Square, PA.

When speaking of her career, she comments, “Performing music and drama is not just a passion for me; it’s my sense of purpose. Whether I am working on a role, singing in an opera, developing a character, teaching a student; it completely fulfills me. I don’t just want to do it because I love it. I need music.”

Alexis is amazing!!! My daughter began lessons to get ready for an audition and prepare for future auditions. She had never had formal voice/singing lessons before. In only 3 lessons, my daughter has improved amazingly in her voice and confidence. Alexis worked with her on her voice and singing, as well as the dramatics that will help her be successful in a theater/musical audition. Alexis is fun to work with, as she keeps sessions light and fun but also knows how to keep my daughter dialed in to concentrate and reach their lesson goals. I was amazed at how many aspects of voice and music that Alexis fits in during their lesson from breathing exercises, vocal practice and music theory. I would highly recommend Alexis to anyone who needs help in voice and singing, as well as preparing for a theater audition that requires 16 bars of a Broadway musical. There are not enough words to express how happy we are that we found Alexis to help my daughter. She is amazing and perfect fit for us!

Alexis explains technique in a way that is at once immediately understandable and easy to implement. I've only had a few lessons with her and I'm already noticing a huge improvement. I would highly recommend her as a voice teacher to anyone at any level.

Alexis has been a wonderful private vocal instructor for my son who is currently a middle school student. She is professional, versatile, helpful, flexible and extremely encouraging as a teacher and mentor. Alexis believes that her students need a solid musical foundation; she is willing to spend time teaching the basics in order to assure her students know how to read music. She has been able to help my son grasp and learn music theory concepts that were sometime challenging in his music theory class at school. Alexis has also worked diligently with my son on musical theatre audition preparation which prepared him and ultimately earned him lead roles in a few musical theatre productions. Alexis is very versatile and is able to teach many types of musical and vocal styles from classical, to Broadway – musical theatre and to popular music, etc. She worked with my son and helped him gain confidence to participate as a vocal soloist for his school’s talent show. I also love the fact that Alexis can see the growth in her student’s after they have worked hard in their private lessons; she offers them advice and encouragement and often recommends new opportunities for the student to try such as auditioning for All State Choirs. Alexis is also very flexible and will work with you in instances where you need to change, reschedule or cancel your vocal lessons. This flexibility is greatly needed and appreciated as a busy parent who may have to change the schedule due to personal conflicts or work commitment. But, the best endorsement that I can give for Alexis is that my son trust, believes in and likes Alexis as a teacher and as a person and as a parent, I don’t think you can ask for too much more!
