I received my Bachelors from UMASS Amherst in trumpet performance and music education. While attending I was trained to become an educator for K-12 grades, receiving experience as an elementary and high school assistant. I have taught private lessons for the past 6 years to all age groups. Throughout the years I have learned a lot about various teaching methods, the importance of curriculum, and how to hold a student's interest. Recently, while attending NYU to receive my Masters in Jazz Performance, I have been teaching Undergraduate non-music major students trumpet and piano. All of these students have varied in musical expertise, interest in artists/genres, and of course personality and learning style. Through this I have gained much experience in how to teach the same concept different ways. Reading music, classical and jazz tonguing, phrasing, sight reading, and range are just a few concepts I focus on with students. As a classical trumpet player, I understand the demands of becoming a soloist or orchestral member through learning the necessary repertoire and technique. As a jazz trumpet player, I am able to teach ear training, how to create lines and understand harmony, as well as the physical demands of range and articulation. I am also able to teach piano, I have 4 years of classical piano experience. In addition to my personal studies and teaching experiences. I have taught piano to a range of age groups as well (5-25). Based on skill level, I use certain method books to include scales, chords, reading music, rhythm, and basic musicianship skills. It would be wonderful to have you as my student, to train, work, and grow together as great musicians!
