Hello! My name is Alex, and I love music.
I have a Bachelor of Music degree from Millikin University. There I studied classical guitar, jazz guitar, and audio engineering. I have played in ensembles for most of my life, ranging from concert bands, to ska bands, to classical guitar ensembles and more.
*** Lesson Details ***
Lessons are tailored specifically to the student's desires, and how they feel they learn best. I always keep a comfortable, relaxed atmosphere during lessons. I want to provide an environment where the student and I can share musical ideas, without stress or judgement. I have found that a knowledge in music theory is extremely helpful, and I try to incorporate that into my lessons.
I do understand that not everybody is interested in learning the ins and outs of music theory, so I'm flexible in the level of theoretical knowledge that the student wants to attain. In all, lessons are designed to provide a welcoming atmosphere for the student to explore any area of music that they wish, be it popular music, classical music, music theory, recording technology, music history, anything!
*** Specialties ***
I specialize in rock, pop, punk, metal, ska, and funk styles on electric guitar. On acoustic guitar, I teach pop, folk, and classical guitar. I teach about recording technology from a number of angles, including production, signal flow, mixing, studio engineering, and home studio set-up and operation.
