Learn Music Theory from an NYC Musician

Theory is not only about analyzing chords and pieces, but an analysis on music where we better understand how certain sounds come to life in a piece. My students are immersed in theory in a way that is applicable to their ears as well as on paper so that they can hear what they see when we analyze pieces. Theory should never be taken as a finite answer to music as music can be rigid and free and no analysis of a piece can truly depict what a composer was feeling. For my students, I teach them the understanding of techniques that composers use to execute their ideas and make them understand how certain aspects of music can be used in their music.
