I was passionate about music when I was younger, but I never had the tools to get where I wanted. Music was always a mystery to me and I got stuck learning from tabs and not stepping out of my circle of knowledge. It wasn't until I pursued music seriously that my love for the art really took off. I suggest doing the same! Let me help you get there quicker! I received my associates degree in music from Ohlone College in Fremont, CA, and my Bachelors in music from San Jose State University Spring of 2019. I have taught guitar, bass, piano, and composition to students from 8-80 over the past 13 years. I am excited to meet you and to help you succeed!

Really enjoying learning piano with Alex! I've seen a lot of improvement in my playing already. Alex makes every lesson interactive and gives really solid approachable techniques for learning and practicing. Highly recommend!
Alex is probably the best teacher I could have imagined. He possesses a quality that is critical for a teacher to have, which is an ability to take a complex idea and repeatedly break it down into smaller and smaller steps until you can find a piece small enough to grasp. His music taste is great, his ability to connect seemingly disparate thoughts together is amazing to me, and what started out as a question about funk transformed into a songwriting series. I was always impressed with his homework assignments, even when I didn't complete them, and I feel like I'm not only a better bassist, but a better musician for the time I've spent with him. Cannot recommend highly enough.
My first lesson with Alex couldn't have gone better! He was patient and thoughtful in explaining Music Theory / Guitar 101, I'm really excited to see what comes of my next lessons.
