Classical Guitar with Alec F.

My Name is Alec Feldges and I am a professional guitarist, teacher, composer and part time visual artist. I have studied with some the best guitarists in the world through top universities and countless masterclasses. I have taught guitar lessons in a wide range of settings, from large groups to one on one. The goal of my lessons is to teach a student how to play the guitar and to have fun with playing the instrument. I don’t teach short riffs, or only a few chords as many other methods do rather when we learn a song we learn the whole song from beginning to end so that when a student sits down to play the guitar, they are able to play music, play songs, and enjoy it. I approach each student individually, and believe there is not one way to teach guitar. What works for some may not work for others and I make sure to cater my instruction methods based on the needs of the student. I believe that a proper development of technique is essential no matter what genre or style of music you are playing. Thus I begin every student out with learning the fundamentals of guitar technique based on Classical Guitar methods I’ve learned studied and put into practice over the past 20 years of playing guitar. While these studies and exercises come from the traditional guitar methods of Spain and Italy, they are exercise that have been tried and tested again and again and can be applied to any genre. In addition, the fundamentals of music are also taught along with these exercises. These being: learning to read sheet music, understanding rhythm, and learning the beginnings of tonal harmony.
