I am a multi-instrumentalist who has made music the main focus of my life. I am interested in sharing my love of music with everyone who I meet, and find that teaching music and seeing it enrich the life of my student and their family is one of the most fulfilling things in my life.
*** Lesson Details ***
I like to teach in a well-rounded way. I teach technique, theory, and of course actual songs. I do everything I can to ensure that the student is having fun during the lesson, and hopefully during practice!
*** Travel Equipment ***
I expect my students to provide their own instrument for any instruction. I can provide an instrument of my own and music stands.
All students must have their own metronome and tuner (if needed for their instrument).
*** Specialties ***
I definitely subscribe to the traditional Classical methods of teaching. I have done some Jazz, rock, and things along those lines, but I focus on teaching the fundamentals that would allow a student to tackle those and any other type of music.
I assisted in installation and training of Captioning telephones for people who suffer from a hearing loss. I supervised the states of Washington, Oregon, and Alaska.
I learned a lot about one on one teaching, especially with individuals who have special circumstances and learned really well how to meet them on their level and provide the instruction that would help them the most.
I worked as telephone technical support for Captioning services as well as Video Relay Videophones and Videophone services. I provided home network and computer setup instructions to Deaf and hard of hearing individuals through interpreters over the phone.
This experience taught me a lot about the most effective ways of phrasing things that are difficult to understand for someone who is unfamiliar with a particular process or product. It helped me to see how to find new ways of describing things that I am extremely familiar for people who have never even heard of what I am telling them. It improved my patience and understanding of the learning process.
I was a Carpenter/Masonry specialist for the Army and was deployed to Afghanistan in 2002. I then switched to be a Computer Systems/Radio Systems specialist in 2006. I was in the Guard for 12 years and am proud of my service.
My son's comments, "He is the best teacher I have ever had."
Adam has been working well with my son and the best part for me is that he is teaching him to love music.
