    About Adam D.

I would like to say that I grew up playing guitar, but that would be a lie. My father tried to teach me, but I just never was interested. I always loved music, and singing alone, but that was it. I moved to Los Angeles to be an Actor. While there I decided to take up hobbies like Surfing, Skate boarding, and eventually guitar. I knew absolutely nothing about guitars other than they make sound. I hired a teacher and his first question was "Adam, why am I here?" I was puzzled. "To teach me," I said. He said that he meant "what inspired me to learn to play?" I told him John Mayer. I heard John Mayer and realized that that was something I wanted to do. Sing and write songs. I never cared about being famous, just able to play for my friends and family. Now 10 years later, with a couple tours and albums under my belt I moved from New York City to Austin come back out west. Now playing guitar is like going for a jog. Some days I plain don't want to practice, or play, but I find that if I force myself to just sit down, I always am rewarded with finding a new rhythm, or learning how to cover a favorite song of mine. *** Lesson Details *** I have been teaching for a few years now to all ages. No matter who you are I can teach you as long as you are willing to practice a few hours a week as homework between our meetings. I start completely from scratch with people so they can walk before they run. I start with teaching how to hold the guitar properly, how to place fingers and such, and then move on to chords, and let the student somewhat guide our direction based on their intentions. *** Studio Equipment *** The In-Studio lessons area taught in the living room w/ guitars, amps, w/ seating for parents. no pets. *** Travel Equipment *** I bring my own guitar, Amp, writing materials, lesson plans. *** Specialties *** I started out in acting classes utilizing method, and meisner technique. While growing as a musician, I grew as a song-writer and vocalist, and guitar player. I especially enjoy Folk-Rock and Jazz progression oriented playing styles.
