I am a professional singer, guitar/bass player, and studio musician. I have been playing guitar and bass for about 15 years, and I hold a Bachelors of Music in Vocal Performance from the UMKC Conservatory.
I am currently pursuing a graduate degree in Vocal Performance, specializing in Opera, and working as a guitar teacher and studio musician in Memphis. I have spent my entire life surrounded by music, and since starting my own musical journey, I have played in countless bands, spanning a multitude of genres. Some examples include: blues, rock, metal, folk, country, bluegrass, acoustic, latin-inspired "Santana" style playing, classical, and many fusions of the above. I am a life long Bluesman, but have equipped myself with a toolbox of tips and tricks to tackle most anything that comes my way.
My teaching style is extremely student-centric. I want you to learn the way that suits you and your needs. I don't have a specific method I'm married to, or some detailed progression that I think you have to go through to become a great guitarist, unless that's what you need. I truly believe that an understanding of the guitar can be gained through whatever end goal you have. Do you want to be a blues guitarist? Great! We will tackle the guitar step-by-step with that goal as the fuel. Or perhaps you're more the singer-songwriter type? Perfect! We will make your guitar the perfect writing partner, not something to get in your way. The guitar is an instrument with a million different voices. I specialize in finding yours.
