As a self-taught musician, I often ask myself, “what should I practice?” It’s an intimidating question, especially without the guidance of an instructor. What I have learned in nearly a decade of practicing, playing, and pondering is that it isn't a question of what to practice, but how to practice.
You have to practice the same things everyday for a long time if you want to be good at them. Unfocused and inconsistent practice will produce an unfocused and inconsistent musician and delay your results.
Those who practice everyday improve. Those that don't, don't. Here is my philosophy:
Incrementalism - One step at a time
If anyone could do it, what would be the point?
Do the hard stuff first.

Aaron knows his stuff, though he doesn't pretend to be God's gift to the world. He has a calm presence that helps me stay focused and motivated. He still remembers what it was like for him as a beginner, so he's super helpful to a novice like me. I came to him knowing the basic chords, but he's taught me so much I would never have even thought to look up! If you want to really learn guitar and not just play a single hit song, Aaron's your guy. I'll definitely be coming back to him!+ Read More
