About Aadhivan R.
Award-winning composer Aadhivan Ramkumar’s music blends Western and Carnatic classical influences to forge soaring melodies and evocative harmonies. Inspired by natural phenomena, Aadhi’s compositions span bright and dark soundscapes, immersing listeners in the beauty of melody. His works seek to evoke moods that oftentimes move from warm, relaxing sounds to ones which are cold, shrill, and marked by their intensity.
Aadhi’s works have been performed throughout his home state of Ohio, most notably by the Cincinnati New Music Ensemble during their residency at the College-Conservatory of Music (CCM). In addition, his string quartet, Tremors, was performed as part of the Prelude Chamber Music festival in Jacksonville, Florid, by musicians of the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra.
Aadhi has won several awards for his music, most recently the first prize at the Caneres International Music Competition, where his piece "Voyage Through the Sea" will be performed at the Grand Final. In addition, he was accepted into the Composers Forum at the Vienna Summer Music Festival in Vienna, Austria, where he was provided the opportunity to work with several stalwart composers and guest ensembles. He currently studies with Norman Dinerstein Professor of Composition Scholar Dr. Douglas Knehans at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, where he is pursuing a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music, with an emphasis in Composition.
