I have experience teaching students of all ages, beginner through advanced. My lessons are engaging and productive - some would even say they had fun! Working together, we can improve your clarinet playing week by week. I am flexible in repertoire, meaning that if a student has pieces he or she wishes to play, we will make it a goal to achieve those pieces so that playing the clarinet is an enjoyable experience for each student.

In my lessons we will work on basic fundamental techniques (breathing, technique, etc) while also learning pieces that you can bring home and play for your family. My lessons adhere to classical pedagogy with an emphasis on reading notation, as well as applied ear training. Whether you haven't picked up the instrument yet, have been playing recreationally on and off for a few years, or study at the collegiate level, my approach builds student's classical repertory, tone production and voicing for all registers, fast technique, and accurate intonation. I always use a variety of fundamental exercises alongside pieces that teach what the student is working on.
About Kyle
I don't just teach students how to play an instrument, I teach students important creative techniques for developing musical skills. Making music is a life skill that helps children and adults of all ages realize, develop, and utilize their expressive and creative talents. In my studio, I focus on

Beginning my studies on clarinet, I understand the challenges which the instrument presents. I continue to perform the clarinet in big band and in the pit orchestra for musicals. Beginner students will learn basic foundation skills (such as embouchure, air, posture, hand position, tonguing techniques, and reed maintenance) in a fun environment where the student's needs come first. Intermediate students can expect to learn more demanding techniques (such as double tonguing, circular breathing, whole tone and octatonic scales) and selections from the clarinet repertoire in an encouraging but challenging environment.
