I've been teaching professionally for 4 years and I am a working Jazz pianist trained in both Classical and Jazz music. I'll teach you the essential elements of music - time, rhythm, harmony, and melody - through working on pieces and tunes rather than doing too many technical exercises.

I specialize in playing with a good, comfortable, and healthy technique (Taubman technique) so if you have any problems with your hands, I can be of assistance! I'll make sure you have good habits when it comes to moving your hands on the piano.

Students are encouraged to compose and workshop their compositions/songs along with me.

I believe in working to grow your natural curiosity and using it to improve your playing and musicianship.

About Stav

I am a professional Jazz pianist and songwriter. I've been playing and touring in various venues around the world ever since I was 17. I've played in Kennedy Center DC, the New Delhi Jazz festival, Jerusalem Jazz festival (twice), Red Sea Jazz, Guatemala and Panama Jazz Festivals and Twin Cities Ja

Stav is a great teacher and an extremely talented pianist. Lessons with him have met all my expectations as he's helped me expand my knowledge of music theory and basic piano techniques - giving me a solid foundation to grow from. I'd highly recommend Stav for any player eager to learn, beginner or advanced.
Miranda
Stav is an excellent teacher who creates a comfortable and fun learning environment. Through my lessons with him I have improved dramatically and even learned some Hebrew! He has a unique and brilliant perspective on music and made every lesson enjoyable even when I discouraged myself at the beginning. As a plus, his place is just across the street from the subway, (B&Q) making getting there very simple.

I have taught piano since 2012. I prefer to take beginners, and I do especially well with younger students. I believe strongly in integrating music theory and ultimately moving students toward musical self-suffiency, rather than focusing exclusively on learning particular pieces.

About Ben

Hi, there! My name is Ben and I can't wait to meet you! I've been teaching private lessons since 2012 and have taught students of all ages from 3 to adult. I have experience not just with teaching but also with writing, recording, and performing music in successful bands and on multiple instruments

Ben has been instructing my 2 kids (now aged 11 and 9) in-home for at least 5 years. We started off with piano for the first few years but then switched to a combination of piano and acoustic guitar (half a session dedicated to each instrument).

He is patient, kind, and highly knowledgeable. I clearly see the upward trajectory in my kids' musical capabilities. One of my kids can be difficult to deal with, especially when he is tired, but Ben would mold his approach to the lesson on the spot to keep my kid engaged (e.g., instead of continuing the lesson on the actual piano, he'd switch to a fun music-oriented game).

I hadn't played a musical instrument since elementary school when I started Ukulele lessons with Ben. Ben started from the beginning, answered all my questions along the way, and built upon that information in each lesson. It wasn't in a didactic way, but in a way that was really customized to fit my Ukulele lesson goals. Ben's teaching style is very flexible also. I had some Ukulele lesson books I had been gifted and we worked from those. I didn't feel that I had to buy a bunch of additional equipment, books, etc.

I recommend Ben as a music teacher. He is understanding, encouraging, and inspirational. I am looking forward to continuing lessons with Ben and JC Instrumental.

Ben has been working with our daughter since January 2019, when she turned 6 1/2. He arrives at our home on time each week and he works with her at an age appropriate level. We appreciate that he recognizes the effort she puts into the weeks when she practices often and he gently makes her aware when she hasn't practiced enough. He always speaks with her in a kind way and with us in a collaborative manner. We all want her to enjoy her piano experience, and we are thankful to have found Ben just a few blocks away from our home.

David's immense experience across a variety of disciplines has made him well-equipped to help students pursue their individual interests and goals. A classically trained singer, pianist, and violinist turned musical theater actor, accompanist, and fiddler, David lights up particularly at the mention of Debussy piano works, Mozart violin concertos, Tin Pan Alley songs, Scottish or Old Time fiddle, or music theory and aural training.

David is a Chicago-based performer. Just before COVID hit, he appeared in MURDER FOR TWO at the Actors Theatre of Indiana, a musical whodunit in which he played 14 different characters and piano throughout the show, and sang in the bass section of the prestigious William Ferris Chorale. He teaches on staff at the Chicago High School for the Arts, the Actors Gymnasium, and Aloft Circus Arts.

His varied interests in performing, which started as a musician at age 5, have brought him a slew of accompanist gigs, a B.S. in Theatre & Musical Theatre from ...

"I do not want to rehash all the good that has been said about Randy, although it is all true. As a student for the better part of two years I'd like to touch on a couple things.

I really enjoy Randy's use of technology in music. Simply put, he uses computer programs / phone apps to help further train, educate, and bring more musical meaning to students and no, you do not need to be very computer savvy.

Working with technology in music is a complete game changer. At the very least it breaks away from traditional at-the-instrument-rote-practice. Sure, the simple drum patterns that comes built-in the digital piano keeps time and gets the job done, but you haven't really *created* anything. When you make your own patterns (and more) your musical creation becomes so much more meaningful and you start to find yourself wanting more after every session.

A recent job change meant I would have to stop lessons. Randy inquired if I would entertain lessons online. Being old-school to what I thought music lessons should be (face-to-face, rote-practice) I was apprehensive, but I could not deny the progress I made. I decided to give online lessons a shot and happy to report it is working with a great deal of accuracy. I'm able continue my lessons from over 675 miles away.

The last thing I'd like to mention as with any hobby or craft, you should expect/ be prepared to invest in it. No, the investment won't break the bank or leave you out in the street, but if you are genuinely serious about breaking into a new world full of excitement and everlastingness, you'll need the right tools for the job. Randy can put you in contact with the right people to get you the tools you'll need. He also does a pretty darn good job of finding the best bang for your buck on music peripherals (always good to have a bargain shopper in your corner.) He won't force you to buy anything, but if you notice him making mention of certain peripheral(s) you may want to consider the investment - it's only going to help you in the long run.

I believe Randy posses the tools, skills and knowledge to get you to where you need to be and more importantly, where you want to be.

I fully recommended him as a piano teacher."

"Keith is an amazing teacher. My 7 year old son likes him very much. Before the lessons I worried our boy couldn’t build his interest in playing piano, just lose his enthusiasm after a while as the 7 years old always did. But Keith make me totally worry free, my son likes him very much, and he really knows how to build the kid’s interests and confidence while learning. Now my son enjoyed himself very much with Keith in their piano time. We are so lucky to find Keith."
