My instruction of voice will focus on proper breathing techniques and healthy vocal production, no matter how advanced the singer is. I will help the singer navigate and expand their vocal range. Classical training is the strongest foundation, but we can explore musical theater as well. One of my greatest joys is introducing students to new repertoire and helping them find what they love to sing.
I will also teach basic music theory and sight reading skills

About Sarah
I am always excited to meet and work with dedicated, aspiring singers, regardless of age or level!

As a professional singer I have sung with opera companies and orchestras throughout the world. I continue to pursue my singing career, but I also love teaching lessons so I can pass on my passion to my students! I am currently on the voice faculty at MusA Academy and also maintain a private studio.

I love teaching musicians, whether they are beginners or advanced. One of my greatest joys is watching the student improve and grow in their love for music. For the beginner, I believe it is important to spend time learning to read music and understanding music theory, so this will be a part of our early lessons.

TEACHING PHILOSOPHY

Singing is a deeply personal experience, therefore each lesson is tailored specifically to the student'
s needs and wants. I specialize in the classical Bel Canto technique and teach this to all my students. This will create a solid technical foundation so then the student is free to explore any genre that interests them. Even though I am an opera singer, I enjoy working with my students on musical theater, pop, jazz, and much more! What is most important is that my students find joy in singing, and I will guide you to do that in a way that is healthy for your voice.

As a teacher, I think it is valuable to develop the complete musician, not only the voice. In lessons, we will also discuss music theory, diction, interpretation, phrasing, music history, etc.

A lesson might include:
- exercises that develop skills in posture, breathing, vocal support, tone production and resonance
- learning songs and choosing audition repertoire that best suits your voice and showcases your unique talent
- the design of a warm-up routine to use before a performance
- special attention targeting trouble spots in music, issues with vocal range or transitions between vocal registers
- coaching in diction (English, Italian, French, German, Latin), articulation, and projection
- music reading skills and ear training
- audition preparation and help learning music
- other areas of focus inspired by the singer’s strengths and challenges

*** Travel Equipment ***
I have a portable electric keyboard, but it would be best if the student had a piano/keyboard so they can practice at home.

*** Specialties ***
I am a graduate of the Manhattan School of Music with a degree in Vocal Performance.
I am classically trained in voice, violin, flute and piano. I began the Suzuki method on the violin at age 3. I am a professional opera and choral singer, but also have experience in musical theater.

We love Sarah. It is just as simple as that. Not only is she a great singer herself but also an excellent teacher. She teaches our 10 year-old daughter and the progress she has made is tremendous. Sarah is able to uncover our girl's beautiful singing voice and I am thinking of taking classes myself now.
She makes all lessons fun and the fact that Sarah is classically trained is invaluable.

My personal specialty is in classical singing, but I began my study in Musical Theater and offer my students a healthy technique to tackle Broadway/Pop/Rock with. Our lessons will be warm-ups, vocalizes, technique work and reviewing rep.

About Chloe
Hi there! Thank you for taking the time to look at my profile and learn a little more about me!

My love for music began very young with piano lessons at age five. I continued lessons throughout high-school and college, but during that time I also found my love for singing and musical theater. Upon discovering opera I felt like I found my calling and have been studying and performing classical voice ever since. The combination of romance languages and the amazing athletic feat that is operatic singing captivated me from the very first moment I saw it and I’ve been hooked ever since.

I hold a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from San Jose State University, and since graduating I have performed with Opera San Jose, Symphony Silicon Valley, Celestial Opera Company & Independent Opera Company.

Although my main pursuit is clas
sical performance, I absolutely love to teach all styles and see the joy of music grow in my students. I’ve been teaching voice and piano since 2009 (8 years) and with my solid piano, musical theater, and classical background I offer my students the best of both worlds.

Want to learn how to play your favorite pop song? Beethoven’s “Fur Elise”? Maybe you’re a closet Pavarotti fan and have a yearning to hit those stratosphere-high notes, or maybe you just love to sing and want someone’s encouraging ear. No matter what your goal is I will make it my mission to help you attain it!

That's pretty much the gist about me and my teaching, but if you'd like to know what your lesson might look like feel free to ask me! I usually respond within a day.

Find your unique gorgeous voice! Together we will explore YOUR voice doing music of your choice ((pop, jazz, blues, indy, musical theater, classic ...anything that makes you want to sing) You will learn breathing techniques and exercises guaranteed to expand your vocal range, projection, improve your pitch and confidence. Most importantly you will have a WONDERFUL time SINGING! YAY!

About Michelle
Hi

My name is Michelle and I LOVE singing and helping others learn to sing and bring out their own special voice!

I studied classical music since I was 11 years old and then went on to study Opera in College. This gave me a solid foundation for music and music theory but it wasn't where my heart was. Since my decision to leave Opera studies I have experienced many different musical incarnations. In my professional career as a musician and artist I have performed, written and recorded in many genres such as folk, blues, pop, indie and americana.

I believe there are no limits to what one can do if there is passion and excitement behind it! I have been in music a long time now with many ups and downs and still love (almost) every minute of it :) I truly enjoy teaching and watching my students grow and surprise themselves. I had the
most incredible teachers growing up, they supported me and help shape me as a artist and musician, I strive to do the same with my students. I genuinely care about each individual student I teach and want to help them achieve their highest potential!

*** Lesson Details ***
I approach each lesson catered to the individual. We all have different ways of learning. I studied classically as a chlid and went on to study Opera in University but I professional years have been spent doing a range of pop, blues, indie, folk and Americana. I have had many years in the music business and use that experience to help my students discover what they want to do with their voice. Are you an Artist? Do you just want to sing for fun? Are you an actor preparing a particular song for an audition? etc..

In all lessons we will focus on the connection of your breath. Basic warm up techniques, pitch control and full connection to the words you are singing. All music is telling a story and in my opinion that is one of the most crucial elements to a good singer is being able to successfully convey the story. And enjoying the process... its FUN!

*** Studio Equipment ***
Guitars, keyboard, ukulele, latest protools, vocal booth

***Specialties ***
I primarily teach popular music styles. I do have a background in Opera but I most of my students have been children, artist and actors that want to learn the fundamentals of proper singing techniques.

Singers--and those who want to be--need opportunities to SING! Some are ready to shine and just need training. Others need training AND encouragement in an environment that feels safe and private, while they gain confidence, which slowly effects the sounds they make, allowing THEM to be ready to shine!

I specialize in working with beginners of all ages and with students at any level who know the style or styles of music they want to explore and master. My passion is working with my students in ways that prepare them to pursue their musical interests armed with technique, music-reading capabilities, and what I call the "building blocks" of music: knowledge of functional music theory and how to use it.

"Music theory" can sound daunting, but in fact it is fascinating, at least the way I teach it, using analogies appropriate to the age of the student, from chords like different types of sandwiches (yum!) to chord progressions like the materials and equipment used to build a house.

About Teresa
A musician since age 4, Teresa's dad took her early passion for music seriously. So she respects the power that parents have to foster their children's musical lives! She notes the many stories she has heard over the years: "If someone had just supported my interest"... "If my teacher had listened to what I wanted to learn."

These stories and her own passion for music-making inform her approach. A degreed music educator and multi-instrumentalist, she celebrates and uses the musical interests of her students to move them forward. She has three grown sons, including two touring musicians. Their musical lives also influence her work with children, young people, and adults. The point is to celebrate and develop each student's unique, interest-based musical self-expression.

In her home teaching studio in Sherwood Forest, CA, 30 minutes
is the perfect lesson time for most purposes. Options include piano, voice, ukulele, beginning guitar, music reading/theory, and preparation for auditions. Teresa also conducts early childhood music sessions for 3 to 5 year-olds and is available to do group sessions.

45-minute and 60-minute sessions are also available as needed. Teresa recommends 45 minutes to an hour for audition preparation.

I have my degree in classical singing, and I've been coaching and teaching vocal production for years. I will help you learn how to use your body to help you make the clearest, most beautiful sound you can make in an encouraging and nurturing environment. I have my own children that I teach and coach, as well as adults. I will cater to your needs as an individual, and we will take this journey together!

About Judi
Hi everyone! I've been teaching in a variety of areas for many years in many different respects. I teach voice lessons, and audition coaching. I've been doing that for a long time! During my "day-job" years, I was an analyst, and I'm especially skilled with Microsoft Excel. And I LOVE teaching people how to make magic on that program. I have done projects that included creating databases, training departments on the use of said databases, taught entire departments at Jet Propulsion Laboratory how to migrate to Microsoft Outlook from (the archaic) Eudora.

My musical talents run parallel with my affinity for numbers. In my life, it has manifested in music composition, arranging, and musical direction. And, of course, PERFORMANCE! I've performed in and around the Los Angeles area for many years. I own a professional Christmas Caroling co
mpany that I direct and sing in as well. So I'm a performer, and a small business owner! So come see what I can offer!

I've been Brian's student for several years now.

I've tried several teachers in the past who spoke very vaguely when explaining things. My favorite thing about Brian is that he explains things very clearly and scientifically. I am now able to navigate through my high registers much more effortlessly.

Singing has become more enjoyable now that my technique has advanced. Brian's wonderfully warm and encouraging personality certainly helped as well!

On top of that, the price was super reasonable and totally worth it.

Brian is a great vocal teacher. Before I started taking voice lessons from him I almost completely believed I could never learn to sing high notes. For a while I believed it was impossible. Although, just after a few lessons with Brian he helped me discover places I thought my voice could never reach. I definitely do not regret any of the sessions because he has helped me improve my singing tremendously! Brian is so passionate about his job he gets pretty technical. He goes in great detail and in scientific detail too if he has to. Not only does he have great knowledge in vocals but he is also a fun, easy-going character. I highly recommend him!

As an entertainer, singing has always been the one thing i could never get, but really wanted. Even harmonizing was an impossible task for me. Within the 1st lesson, BrIan got me to a level that was actually bearable to the human ear. Within a couple months of lessons, not only was my (singing) voice in pitch and in tune, but i was auditioning for roles that required singing!

The tools i received here not only helped with my singing, but also my Voice Over work, and getting ready for filming and auditions(just speaking). My voice never sounded so good!

I have been to a few voice coaches in the past (per my agent's request), and Brian's coaching takes the cake. He keeps it simple, does not give a cookie-cutter approach (its personalized), and it helps that Brian is an outstanding singer, so that you have something to listen to and mimic as you go through the exercises (believe it or not i've been to voice coaches who can't sing...yes, really).
