Very professional, knowledgeable and friendly. Motivates his students.
I must say that I am please with Jamie's technique and patience with me. Jamie is very knowledgable and shares some of his secrets (not shortcuts mind you) that help in learning to master the acoustic guitar. He leaves you with valuable lessons and exercises that can do nothing but improve on how you play the guitar. I'm looking forward to continuing my lessons with Jamie.

Are you a beginner, intermediate or advanced singer interested in learning how to take care of your voice, hit those high notes, low notes, practice ear training, sing on stage - or with other musicians? Are you wanting to just get better at singing?
I've been teaching voice lessons since I first started teaching 4 years ago! I've helped singers in all ranges - bass, tenor, alto & soprano - to use their voice as an instrument and refine their singing skills. I've also been singing since I can remember, and I love the personal connection we have with our voice - I also understand how scary & vulnerable it can be to sing & my lesson space is always judgment free. I'm here to help you meet your full potential. In our lessons I will create specific warm-ups & vocal exercises for you, we will learn how to sing any genre of songs, and build on the confidence you will need to be a singer.
Whether you are wanting to become a solo singer, vocal performer, choir member, or just want to ...

Hello fellow singers! My goal is to help you refine your own unique instrument and help you to express a story and art through the voice!
I grew up taking piano lessons and singing in my church and school choir. I always had a love for all classical music and soon enough fell in love with opera! I begin taking classical voice lessons at the age of 15 and soon realized that my heart and soul belonged to opera and had to continue my studies a lot more in depth.
I went to UCLA where I received my Bachelor of Arts with my emphasis in Opera Performance. Throughout the years spent at UCLA, I not only continued to sing with choral groups, but also performed in every opera. I sang one of the principles roles in Ravel's L'enfant et les sortilèges, and sang one of the principles roles in many opera scenes such as Dorabella from Così fan tutte, Mercedes in Carmen, Second Lady in The Magic Flute, Nerone in L'incorazione di Poppea.
Since I graduated college I have collaborated with ...

I am a beginning student with no singing experience. JoAnn has been my instructor for the past several months. What I like about JoAnn is her attention to detail. She believes, for example, in starting with a strong foundation to build your singing voice on such as having proper breathing and relaxation techniques. More importantly, she is upfront about the importance of practice. This is the only way to get better. Thank you, JoAnn, for your encouragement and patience."

Riley could not even look adults in the eye when speaking to them when Steve began teaching her at age 10. But by the time she graduated high school at 18, she had blossomed into a very powerful, skilled, and controlled singer who had starred in several school productions and won several awards and accolades such as the NJ NATS award and the NJ All-State Honors Choir.
During their 8 years of study, she gained such confidence and poise. There is no doubt in my mind that Steve played an enormous role in that.
Steve is very skilled at producing well-rounded singers. The repertoire of songs that he would have Riley work on spanned several different genres to not only help her to become more well-rounded but to prepare her for her career as a singer.
Whenever she had upcoming auditions or performances, Steve prepared her superblyl and gave such helpful advice. She also always knew what the song MEANT, thanks to Steve, therefore making her dynamics & feeling for the lyrics allow her acting to shine through. He knows his craft well and he loves it.....which directly benefits his students.
Today, Riley is getting ready to enter her senior year at Temple University as a Theatre major and Music minor. When she began lessons with her new instructor in Philadelphia once she went away to college, she was told that the tutelage she had received up until that point was very solid.
Besides being a student, Riley also performs professionally in Philadelphia in various cabarets and shows. That once small, sweet voice has evolved into one that fits right in with the best singers in the Philadelphia arts community.
Steve went ABOVE AND BEYOND for Riley as he really wants to see ALL of his students succeed. Being that he is known as the best around and the theatre community is tight, the general consensus about Steve is the same....he's the best."

I'm going into my junior year at Cornell where I'm studying pre-med, and believe it or not I really feel like voice lessons with Nancy helped me get here. I love singing, but never had much confidence. I started taking lessons with Nancy my senior year in high school and she helped me sing so much better than I ever thought i could. She was really supportive of my song-writing too. I ended up getting a good part in the school musical (I went to a super competitive high school too) and performing my own songs at a couple of local venues.
Then as part of my college applications she suggested that I include a recording of me performing some French art songs by Claude Debussy. Not that I was a classical singer or was even going to study music seriously in college, but my family is French and I really like the poetry of Paul Verlaine. Nancy introduced me to some cool Debussy settings of Verlaine poems. I thought the songs would be way too hard for me, but with Nancy's help I actually sang them really well and did a good recording that I think helped set me apart in my college applications.
Now when I come back home I always have a few lessons with Nancy. (I still compose and perform my own songs) And don't tell anyone, but she's a lot better than any of the voice teachers at Cornell! Not naming names of course."

I've only been taking lessons for her for a month and she has been absolutely amazing teacher. Very patient and fun! She has good advice to help my voice. I would recommend her!"
