You will develop your musicality and learn the language of music through the application of piano. Learn the basics of notation, rhythm and theory. Learn scales and how to build chords so you are able to open any music book and can play the chords accurately as well as how to arrange the notes of the chords depending on the style of music.

About Michelle
I am Certified Beginning Piano teacher as well as an intermediate level teacher. I studied piano at Cerritos College of Norwalk, CA and completed my Bachelor of Arts degree in Music with a focus in percussion from CSU Long Beach. I have consistently taught piano, music and drums since 2002.

I have traveled the world to perform music. I have been to Brazil to study samba and its many different styles with the World Percussion Program of CSU Long Beach in 2006 and 2007. In 2012, I traveled to Colombia and Venezuela to perform with the band of Terratour, a humanitarian group. While touring, we collaborated with local musicians in local venues.

You may have noticed from my photos and videos that I'm a Carpenters fan. I sing, play piano and drums. The Carpenters are my musical inspirations and that's exactly how I perform- with te
nder, love, and care. I was once the other musical half of a Carpenters tribute band, Close To You. My friend and I learned many of the Carpenters tunes and collaborated with vocals, piano, steel drums, drums and other percussion.

My teaching is focused on reading the notes (pitch), proper technique and rhythm. All are a part of the music-making process and should be equally strong. I start with young beginners when they can count to at least 10 and know the alphabet. The student must have the proper instrument and additional equipment, when necessary. The student is required to practice on a regular basis (daily is ideal).

I am currently available for online or in-studio lessons. Please notify me if there is a day and time not available. I try to be flexible but do prefer serious and committed students. When signing up a child for the first time, it is best to make a one year commitment so the child can really learn to work alone and develop self-discipline and parental guidance and support is necessary for success. For adults, commitment to practicing is key- not just lesson attendance.

You have all the ability and power to learn and be great- I'm just going to guide you all the way to your goal!

Please notify me of the special need prior to booking lessons so I can accommodate.

Michelle is a great teacher. She is patient, kind, and enthusiastic about music. My child loves going to class and hates missing a class (only when she's sick). I hold a bachelor's of music degree in piano from the University of Southern California. I've been teaching for over 15 years and have been a member of the Music Teacher's Association of California for the same length of time. I teach songs, technique/scales, sight reading, theory, and improvisation. Students are encouraged to take part in 2 studio recitals a year as well as MTAC evaluations in March of each year. There are also special festivals and recitals within MTAC in which eligible students may play. I also work with adult students or those wishing to explore music in a more "free" and less structured environment.

About Shannon
I hold a master's in voice from CSUF and a double bachelor's in piano and voice from USC. With over 13 years of experience as a private voice and piano instructor I have had the privilege of helping many students achieve their musical goals. As a member of MTAC and NATS, I enter many students in Certificate of Merit, Student Evaluation Program, and other festivals. For pianists, I work on songs, scales, theory, ear training and sometimes improvisation. For singers, we work on a breath-based breathing technique and songs that reinforce good singing habits but that are also engaging for the singer. We also work on sight singing and theory.Though my training is mostly in classical music, I do work on other styles with my students.

*** Lesson Details ***
For pianists, I recommend the Premier Alfred piano course, or for older beginners/ad
ults, we use Adult Piano Adventures. I also recommend purchasing a scale/technique book and a theory book.

For singers, please bring a recording device (phone is ok) so that you may later practice the exercises which we learn in the lesson.

*** Studio Equipment ***
I have a Baldwin grand piano as well as an electronic piano in my studio. For budding pianists, I offer instruction with Piano Marvel software.

During lessons I will provide constant feedback and adjust lessons depending on your needs and level of understanding. Students have different learning styles so I will teach lessons that incorporate visual, verbal, and written teaching methods. Students can expect a professional, enthusiastic, and patient teacher that is serious about students learning the subject’s material and also makes learning fun.

About Belinda
I am a professional working artist and I am also an elementary piano teacher for an after school program here in Riverside. I obtained a degree in Art Practice from UC Berkeley where I specialized in multimedia installations that included large scale paintings and sculptures. Due to the versatility in my own work from large to very small scale paintings I have acquired techniques and skills for every scale in between.
I am a strong believer in self expression and visual literacy which gets stronger with the formulation of concepts one builds through inspiration for each painting. I enjoy teaching and learning what my students' interests are and what motivates them. I can help you learn specific skills for abstract paintings to portraits.
Through research I have also learned that individuals benefit greatly from cre
ative freedom thus performing better in other academic subjects, learning healthy ways of expression, and mentality feel fulfilled through the therapeutic effects of painting.
If you are looking to work with someone who loves what they do, who is patient, motivational, and can teach you basic to advanced skills give me a call and let's get painting!

During the lesson, Belinda was able to actively engage my daughter the whole time, and more importantly, her teaching revived my daughter’s interest in drawing.
