About Kristapor

I believe Music is, most importantly, a tool for communication. As a teacher, my goal is to show students how to use this tool on their path towards clearer, more confident self-expression, and in so doing, further myself along the same path. As an instrumentalist and composer, I have the priv

Kristapor is a wonderful teacher. He not only taught my son violin, but also inspired him to be a better violinist. He spent hours with my son to come up with a high standard audition tape for applying a summer music camp. My son got accepted & had a great time learning music at the camp. Thank you, Kristapor!!!!

I took violin lessons from Kris for nearly two years, until moving out of LA. He is an extremely talented musician and teacher. During these lessons, my violin technique and musical expression both considerably improved. Kris is very patient, and able to teach multiple methods to successfully master various violin techniques (such as vibrato). Through implementing improvisation into the lessons, Kris can also bring out the student's musical creativity and confidence, which not only helps aspiring composers, but guides violin students in adding expression to the music they're currently learning. He encourages students to challenge themselves, but effectively teaches all of the techniques necessary to accomplish their musical goals.

He is also a brilliant composer, and is an excellent composition teacher as well! Although my lessons were mostly focused on violin, he provided much useful advice for improving my compositions for orchestra and symphonic band as well.

I highly recommend Kris as an instructor for music students of any proficiency level!

About Rachelle

Hello! My name is Rachelle and I'm a professional singer, songwriter and pianist from Victoria, BC, Canada. My background in music is a blend of Pop, Rock, Jazz Classical, Blues and R&B. I was featured in Keyboard Magazine’s November 2012 Issue as one of the 6 Best Keyboard Heroes to watch out for

Rachelle is extremely personable, knowledgeble, and communicative in her technique training. She is really helping me to unlearn all the bad habits that have naturally developed over the years, and I'm already more cognitive of my vocal projection. She's at the top of her game. Would highly recommend her to ANYONE in search of the best instructor.

A fantastic teacher

In just my first few lessons with Rachelle, I learned more about the anatomical aspect of singing than I had in 10 years of choir/singing. She put great emphasis on the technique and skill aspects, while still balancing it with emotional connection. Perhaps my favorite thing about Rachelle is that instead of giving you songs to practice or telling you exactly what kind of songs you need to be doing, she allows you to bring in any music that you like and allows you to pick the focus of your lessons (whether you want to work more on breath support or volume or tone quality etc.). She maintains a flexible, laid-back and supportive attitude and has been a wonderful help for me.

Rachelle is a great teacher!

I took lessons with Rachelle for about 2 years and I'm so glad I did. I have improved so much vocally as well as performance-wise. It was a lot of fun to be able to work on my own favorite songs instead of purely classical. I would definitely recommend taking lessons with Rachelle!

Natasha is a wonderful piano teacher to my son. I love how much she wants my son to grow within each lesson. She focuses on scales for his technique and is very organized in terms of setting goals for each piece my son has for the week. Highly recommend her for any level of piano, especially for beginners!

Natasha is a wonderful teacher and honestly the best instructor I have ever had. I have bounced around quite a bit to different teachers and dealt with some wrist pain at various points, she was by far the most patient and caring of any of them. She is knowledgeable and understands how to teach proper, healthy technique. She actually wanted me to improve as a student and will do whatever it takes to help her students achieve their goals. I highly recommend Natasha as a piano teacher!

"William has been a wonderful instructor for our 8 years old. He has been patient and has found ways to both explain music and also make it interesting. Will has even modified complex music to an easy to play version so our son could play a song he loved. His musical growth over the last 7 months has been remarkable and its in large part due to Will's low key, thoughtful, patient approach."

"John is a fantastic instructor. He has a love for educating others on musical expression and he is a wellspring of musical knowledge. He provides a depth to the piano that I wouldn't have noticed if I taught myself how to play.

John emphasized how to shape musical phrases to make music as opposed to a collection of notes. He had a good ear for honing in on my weaknesses such as how some notes that I played stuck out or the movement of my arms. Most importantly, he taught me how to approach practicing the piano in an effective way. I learned how to listen to myself and how give each note, phrase, and piece the attention and musicality it needed to sound beautifully.

For an adult learner as myself, he was accommodating with how busy I was. He adjusted to my needs and work schedule and taught at a reasonable pace. However, he also never veered from his expectations and praised what I was doing right and provided methods to fix what I was doing wrong.

Although there were times when John expressed his passion for music by delving into tangents on the broader historical significance of pieces, his mini-lectures were never irrelevant nor inappropriate. For example, he commented on how in waltzes, the rhythm on the left hand would need to emulate how a Romantic era string section would play it. For anyone who is serious about how or why pieces of music are meant to be played in a certain way, John is great about contextualizing pieces to make them sound great.

Most importantly, he made practicing piano something that was both enjoyable and challenging, which is difficult to find in a teacher. I owe a great deal of my musicianship to John and he met my expectations of learning the piano. Thank you!"

Essential Scales for Jazz and Blues Piano Players

Curious about playing jazz or blues on the piano? Learn about some of the essential scales to learn in this guest post by Augustine, FL piano teacher Heather L...   Jazz music has been called the only truly American art form, born and raised on this very soil. A combination of the historical music forms of both African and Caribbean slaves and European immigrants, it may be the only way in which the "melting pot" objective was ever successful. To listen to jazz is to listen to Amer …
