Becky was a phenomenal instructor! She has a genuine enthusiasm for teaching and music is obviously a large part of her life. She provides great analogies to help her students grasp concepts. And she inquired about my goals and was a great resource for pursuing them. I had to suspend my lessons because life got a little too busy, but if I find the time again, I'd definitely look to return to her for instruction.

I came to Paul for some voice lessons before my band entered the studio. Not only did he help me improve my voice and ear training, but he gave me many tools to improve my timing, vocal range, and knowledge of theory. I highly recommend him!

This was my first experience with on line teaching and it was great. I had tried reading the books and watching some videos on You Tube and was not making progress. Just a few minutes with Paul and what I couldn't figure out suddenly made sense.

Looking forward to next week.

I am experienced in most styles: Jazz, Pop, Classical, Latin, R&B, Funk, Rock etc…
After discussing your goals, we will figure out the best way to accomplish those goals!

I am a really easy-going person and I want you to have FUN and discover new stuff every time you play your instrument.

After we figure out what you want to play and what areas we want to work on, I will make a special curriculum for you! Each student has a different curriculum that is specific to his or her level and learning style. I give a weekly curriculum after every lesson so you don’t need to worry about forgetting what we worked on at our lesson and you can work on it at home. Looking at past curriculum also provides an excellent way to look at a student’s progress.

One of the most important aspects of playing a woodwind instrument is achieving a good tone. I will help you get a good tone by teaching the fundamentals: from how to hold your instrument, how to blow, etc…

Saxophone:
A family of woodwind instruments, saxophones are usually made of brass and played with a single-reed mouthpiece similar to that of the clarinet. Like the clarinet, saxophones have holes in the instrument which the player closes using a system of key mechanisms. When the player presses a key, this typically causes a pad to close over a hole. There is soprano, alto, tenor, bass and baritone saxophones. The great thing about learning saxophone is it is almost the same fingers as flute and clarinet! We will start with the basics of learning finger placement, breath control, notes, reading, rhythms, songs, theory and improvising.

Karen is an incredibly skillful teacher. She is very passionate about music and it easy to be comfortable with her. She shares her training and knowledge very clearly. The vocal exercises seem very unique and holistic for body and voice health. She is very encouraging, caring, and soul-uplifting. I feel like I have a new connection with my voice and all that is connected to using it... as an instrument and the journey is only just starting. 45 minutes went by so fast. I am looking forward to my next lessons.

I thought I wanted to take viola lessons. Then I read her website and I realized that she might be able to help me get my voice back! I thought there was no hope ever. She has been extremely generous with her time, and I haven't seen her yet, but I'm not buying the viola I was planning on buying. I play cello, and piano still, but I am going to see if she can help me with my voice. She sounds incredible. I never dreamed that I could even have HOPE like this!

Eric B. was the music instructor for both my children at the middle and high school they attended. Additionally, I taught with Eric for seven years.

My children received excellent music instruction in both trombone and flute. I was pleased with the rigor of the practice that was expected from Eric, which enabled dramatic growth in their musical ability. I was also pleased that they were both able to read music due to the instruction they were given under Eric's tutelage.

As I said earlier, I have worked with Eric as a colleague. I found him to be highly organized, student centered with regard to growth and performance, and a man of high character.

Eric created a Jazz band curriculum at the school corporation we taught at, where he developed several Jazz sections that would perform regularly in the community. Eric would invite notable guest musicians to work with the students and participate with them in these performances.

I would recommend Eric, without reservations, to anyone who desires a quality music instructor.

Eric was great. Hadn't played in a while and he really helped me get back into it and rekindled my love of music.

"I’m a classically trained violinist and I perform many different styles of music as a freelancer in Los Angeles, however I wasn’t a very confident improviser until I started studying with Rick. It always felt like I was shooting in the dark because I had no idea how to play within the chord changes, I was just relying on my ears. Rick has a very simple system that takes you step by step so it feels very manageable to learn and you feel like you’re constantly improving. It made sense from the very beginning and I started improvising with more control and confidence right away by applying his method to my solos. Rick is a world class musician and his knowledge of improvisation and jazz/blues is inspiring and very impressive. He has also played with so many huge acts and done virtually every kind of gig so he taught me a lot of practical advice that’s helped me get work and get hired again. I owe a lot of my success to Rick, and I cannot recommend him enough as a teacher and mentor!

Rick’s main instrument is saxophone and he teaches amazing jazz improvisation lessons so for anyone who wants to learn how to improvise, there’s no better teacher. If you want jazz sax lessons, I’ve heard some of his students and they are amazing players in a short amount of time. You would be wise to at least check him out for yourself."

"Love Working With Him!

I study jazz saxophone with Imraan once a week. I originally found him through a recommendation from a friend, and was using him to prepare me for the All State NYSSMA auditions in my senior year of high school. The lessons were so helpful that I continued through college... Since then I've improved so much. He understands how to break down complicated information and present it to you in a way that you'll be able to understand and process. He is active in the music community, so you can drop in on a show and see him and one of his bands in action... Worth a visit.

Also, he always has a great selection of music to choose from for you to learn, and a great set of helpful tips and tools that work great for me! Highly recommend!!!!"
