I have been teaching piano in the Seattle area for close to ten years. I have worked with young beginners to intermediate and some advanced students. My methods are eclectic and I often draw from the Kodaly Method for beginners. I encourage my students to sing along while they play to reinforce learning, accessing multiple neural pathways.

I teach my students to read music and play with feeling and heart. I instill a love of music in my students by creating musical moments in them and expose them to a wide variety of genres and styles. Students will learn basic technique, theory, improvisation, and performance etiquette, all while having fun!

About Holly

I am an enthusiastic musician with a talent for teaching. I have worked as a voice and piano teacher in Seattle for over 16 years. Previously employed at The West Side Music Academy in 2003-2006, I realized my passion for individual instruction early in my career. I studied Music Education under D

Holly is the best!

I came to her in 2020 as an absolute novice after hearing about her through a friend. I had no idea where to start and Holly was such a great instructor for a total beginner like me. She is smart and encouraging and always has great direction for me to improve my ability. She's really helped me find my own singing voice and inspires me to continue even when my lessons with her have to end. I've learned so much from her. Even outside of music instruction, Holly is a great person and a joy to be around!!

Looking back at how I've improved over the last year and half, I know I wouldn't have been able to do it without Holly.

Piano is the basis of western music, the foundation for music theory, and a vital analogy for all other instruments. Every musician and singer benefits from studying piano, and every individual can find satisfaction in creating music from this beautiful instrument.

I emphasize physical relaxation technique, curiosity-driven exploration, and a comprehensive understanding of music through piano performance. It's ridiculously fun, and a challenge at every level. I specialize in ear training and songwriting/arranging, because that's the source of my own delight. Your enthusiasm is the fuel for progress, and I love finding ways to channel your interests into the love of piano.

My 3-camera technique allows you to see what's happening from a variety of angles, translating my actions over Zoom like you're in the room with me. Let's make time to play together.

About Isaac

CUSTOM-MADE FOR YOU Learning involves playfulness, curiosity, and personal connection. I've studied how people learn and how people play, along with 25 years of professional and performance experience, and I focus it entirely on you. My students experience a fun and educational learning environment. I love to see my students progress and live for "light bulb" moment when they finally truly understand a technique or concept.

About Jerry

My name is Jerry. I LOVE music and passing my knowledge on to others. I have played many different instruments in many different kinds of bands/groups. They all had one major thing in common, it was FUN! If you are not enjoying learning an instrument you won't want to learn. Lessons can be fun AND e

Extremely unprofessional to abruptly cancel scheduled/paid lessons without the courtesy of a message or any notice because this instructor was unhappy with a 12-year-old child's progress. Very surprised by and disappointed in the manner in which he handled this situation, certainly could have been handled with more respect and maturity.

I've been teaching piano for eight years and specialize in beginner - intermediate students with a focus on technique, theory and reading music. I've taught all ages from as young as 3 years old to 70+. I usually use the Alfred's Basic Piano Library method books as they have a great balance of theory and songs, while being very easy to follow. I also have a wide range of sheet music and songbooks for students to choose pieces from, including Classical, Jazz, Film scores, and classic to modern pop music.

I was awaken by my teenage daughter’s singing and I was immediately brought to tears because she has always had a nice voice, however after just a few lessons with Tanisha, her voice is remarkable! I’m excited to see what the future holds! Thank you Tanisha!!

Tanisha is an unbelievably talented teacher. She really took the time to help me understand what was needed and to fill various gaps in my knowledge. She was also quite flexible with our time difference as I am on the Gold Coast, Australia. I would definitely recommend her to anyone at any level.

"My 6 yr old daughter started taking piano lessens with Paul about 8 months ago and absolutely loves it! He is very knowledgeable and well equipped to accommodate students of all ages as well as a full range of instrumental interests. He takes the time to go beyond just the mechanics of playing the instrument and teaches the true art of hearing and appreciating the music. I highly recommend Abbey Music."

"Ben G. has had 5 lessons with my sons an 11year old & a 9 year old. He observed their personalities while taking notice where their abilities were on the piano. Which allowed Ben to quickly understand how to plan his lessons to cater to each boy. My boys are enjoying lessons from Ben. They like watching him play their music in an entertaining way to show them how different a song can sound. Which keeps them interested in playing the piano. He is kind and attentive and makes learning fun. We appreciate the lessons Ben is creating for our sons."

"The best piano teacher I ever have

I started piano lessons in Hong Kong at 21 years old. I took piano lessons on and off for 5 years before I moved to the states. I am a nurse and piano is not the most easiest thing to learn. I never feel like I can truly learn and play the instrument well with most of my teachers in the past. After 20 yrs without a teacher, I decided to give piano my last attempt. By far, Mr Lacey is the best teacher. He is very patient, knowledgeable and encouraging to his students. I have learned a lot just a few lessons. I am now learning the piano first time ever without the unnecessary stress."

Why Are Piano Keys Arranged That Way?

When you look at the keys on a piano, a few things pop out right away. First, there are both white and black keys, and second, there is a distinct pattern that the keys on piano repeat. While most modern pianos contain 88 keys, you can find pianos with a shortened range, and even some that increase the number! But why, exactly, are the keys set up like that? We'll explore that in this article. Black and White Keys on Piano Pianos are arranged with white keys for the musical tones of A, B, C …
