I use age designated books for the student to learn. That is pre-k books for those that are not reading, three different series of piano books for ages 7 to 12, and an older beginner for teens, also adults - those books will vary. I not only teach notes, but I hope that my students will be able to play in their adult lives by teaching and knowing their knowledge in tests and conversations.

Students must have a piano.

About Diane

I continue to learn and improve my teaching by attending workshops, conferences, and be involved in music teacher groups. These are both in person, social media, and podcasts. I believe it is important to play your instrument if you teach it. My BM degree from UW-Stevens Point taught me how musi

She has a gift for observing her student and identifying the strengths and weaknesses in their vocal technique. She is then able to find the best ways to correct the weaknesses and enhance the strengths. I believe she can improve any one to be a better and more confident singer.

I come from a classical piano background but have found a ton of joy in contemporary styles (pop, rock, jazz, etc). I also enjoy arranging, so if there's a song you like that isn't written for piano, we can write out our own version. It's a great opportunity to learn about voice leading, inverting chords, modulation, etc. If you want to build strong foundational skills by using both theory and ear training concepts, I think you'll learn a lot from my approach. If you're a complete and total beginner, or someone more experienced looking to widen their repertoire and learn more theory, I can teach you!

About Rae

Hi! My name is Rae and I've been teaching professionally since moving to Chicago in 2012. I graduated from Berklee College of Music with a degree in Professional Music, focusing on Music Education and Performance. For the last two years, I've been teaching drums, piano, and voice at School of Rock

I incorporate a lot in piano lessons such as chords, technique, memorization, music reading, music theory, ear training and more. I like using both lesson books and music that the individual picks out to keep students interest and engagement. I use many materials throughout lessons. I like to incorporate the fundamentals of music theory so that the student understands the concepts of music, not only learning to read sheet music. I keep lessons fun and engaging and I teach each student what they want to learn. I consistently check in with students progress and continue to take students to the next level. Students will learn how to practice efficiently, and learn patience in the process. I continually help students form good practice habits and show them effective ways to practice.

About Lynzi

I am like a proud mama when it comes to my students. I have been teaching online and in person for 8 years now and I have seen all of my students grow and accomplish so many great things. "A patient and skilled instructor

I was so nervous about taking up piano again. My experience as a child had been less than stellar. Serena was exactly the instructor I had hoped for - she quickly assessed my ability and was able to adjust her teaching style/lesson accordingly. I was a bit nervous at first, but her patience helped me relax and enjoy the lesson."
