About Moataz
I am a Freelance Graphic Designer living in Stamford, Connecticut. I love learning and teaching, like a lot. I teach languages, Lettering, branding, and the basics of Graphic design as well as the adobe programs that bring it to life.

My promise to you is that I will teach you everything I know in the time I'm given and provide you with all sorts of outside resources to get you on your way to fluency and proficiency.

I'll make sure to do my absolute best to get you speaking a new language from day one, learning a Design program immediately, or teaching you how to letter with the rules they don't teach you in school. And best of all, I'll even show you how to actually make money with all of these.

I have a very unique journey into learning where I experienced many places and got a fresh and different understanding to the many su
bjects that I teach. For example my knowledge of multiple languages and travel to different countries gave me an added knowledge of linguistics that I experienced first hand and confirmed in books, so now I know how languages work, and can relate a concept from one language to another even if the languages seem completely different.

My Design work has been very general so I've done a lot of different things before I specialized in hand lettering, so I've done it all from advertisements on billboards to website design and development, to copywriting, to branding from start to finish for companies big and small.

My love for lettering and Calligraphy emerged when I started getting more Logos for client work and my exploration of type wasn't the best answer most of the time so I would letter everything myself, and the rest is history.

I am really passionate about learning and even more passionate about sharing what I've learned. I am efficient, I know what works for different people since I taught in classrooms and tutored way before I knew about Takelessons, and I'm most proud of being praised as a very genuine person. A very common compliment I get is that I sincerely want my students to do well. And it makes me really happy every time someone says it, and I hope that one day you see that and tell me the same thing.

Feel free to find out more about me and ask me anything you want, and I really look forward to one day teach you something that will get you to achieve your goals! :)

Just so there are no surprises, I raise my prices very slightly every 3 months, next time it will go up is on March 3rd 2017. The reason for this is because I get better and more efficient at teaching as time goes by, so that hour that you get now is much more packed with value than the same hour last year or last month.

Moataz was an amazing instructor for my 11 year old daughter. She already speaks an Arabic dialect, but I wanted her to learn standard Arabic. He is extremely patient and knows how to engage kids by tapping into their interests. He is extremely flexible and very pleasant. My daughter loved her lessons with him. I'm sure he's great with adults, too, but if you're looking for Arabic instruction for the younger crowd, Moataz is the best around!

About Elyse
Who has music and teaching as their biggest passion?

See below... :)

Hello, Parents & Students!
My name is Elyse (the answer is me!), and I teach a wide array of great (mainly musical) things! Thank you for checking out my page!
A few key points to know about me:
*I graduated from Kent State University (Kent, OH) in December, 2009, with my Bachelor of Music in Music Education degree (Magna cum Laude).
*I’ve taught music in small ensembles and marching band camps since July, 2007.
*I taught from 2010-2016 in the Texas Public Schools as a General Music teacher/Choir Director.
*I taught theatre for one year.
*I am a VERY enthusiastic, fun-loving teacher who enjoys laughter and bringing smiles to my students.
*I do, however, structure our lessons in such a way that we have that fun while remaining on track.
*The Clarinet was m
y instrument of study in college.
*RANDOM: I love to read, sing, and listen to music, I love cats, chocolate, and my family/friends. Pink is my favorite color, and Hanson is my favorite band!
*My most recent new student, after his second lesson, asked if he could take piano more than once a week because “it’s so fun!” 😊

***Philosophy***
—If you're going to make a mistake, make a loud one!—

-My students know (I make sure of this) right off the bat that it's okay to make mistakes! My philosophy is: YOU make mistakes. Mistakes don't make YOU. We fix them together, and we learn together. Also: never apologize for making a mistake; that is why we’re working together and you’re practicing at home!

***Teaching Style***
-I'm definitely a fun-loving, outgoing person.
-My teaching style is tailored to each of my students;
- I try to think-outside-the-box as much as possible and utilize creativity.
-I talk as little as possible in lessons; my goal is for the student to play as much as possible. With beginners, I may have to talk a bit more.
-I often model for the student what they should do: example: middle c position on the piano.
-If seeing ME isn’t enough for my visual learners, I will utilize a video clip.
-For my tactile learners, sometimes I have to move their fingers into position myself.
-For my sound learners, I will play or sing a pitch, show them the slide position or fingering to that note, and have them try to match it by ear.
-I also question my students.
-I have many other techniques as well.
-I am VERY much pro Positive Reinforcement!

*** Lesson details ***
-I am NOT a rigid teacher; I am pretty relaxed.
-However, I am VERY adamant about practicing between lessons - no matter what type of instrument you may be learning. It is the only way to improve. :)
-We will ALWAYS begin with a warm-up, we may/may not move into rhythm exercises, possible ear training, music theory, and your music.
-The list of all that I teach is on my page, but I teach all wind instruments (woodwind/brass), piano, and voice. I also teach acting techniques and improvisation skills.

***Students’ responsibility:***
-Daily practice is strongly recommended. It is important and necessary for steady progress.
-For piano lessons, students should have neat, clean, trimmed nails at every lesson.
-Students should bring water to voice lessons.
-Reed players should ensure they have working/non-cracked reeds.
-Brass players should ensure all valves/slides are oiled/greased.
-Students must be prepared for each lesson.

***Parents’ responsibility:***
-Parents should remain until their child’s lesson is complete.
-Parents should regularly check and support the students practice routine.

*** Studio Equipment ***
-One Yamaha keyboard w/pedal; space for parents to sit and observe lessons.
-Music stand
-Square chairs to sit on

IMPORTANT NOTE: My home, where my studio is located, is inhabited by four very sweet cats. Keep this in mind when you plan to sign up for lessons. :)

Miss Elyse is FUN and so funny! My lessons with her go by too fast. She gives me really good practice tips about playing hands apart, then slowly adding them together. Miss Elyse got me to use my metronome the right way, too. My music is fun too.

About Henry
I am a college student majoring in Informatics with a minor in data science. I love working with technology but am especially passionate about educating others. During my academic career, I've had a variety of roles in education.

I began as a course assistant leading review sessions for a basic computing course. I then moved onto writing lesson plans and leading larger review sessions for statistics courses for my university. My programming tutoring started with a company using a project-based curriculum. Here, we taught students basic programming skills and computer science knowledge by leading a step-by-step guide to create their own Gamemaker Game and their own Minecraft Mods.

I then worked in smaller classrooms teaching programming through Python, Alice, and Scratch. Here, students worked on applications Here I taught students fro
m a simple "rock, paper, scissors" application to a more advanced Twitter Bot using a Raspberry Pi and the Twitter API.

Younger students can start learning a 4th generation language like Scratch or Alice. Older students may excel in learning Python or basic web development.

About Kevin
Hi All! My name is Kevin and I live in beautiful San Diego, California. (Although I’m a Midwest native). With my 25 years of Photoshop experience, I am well beyond proficient, and now, I’m into creating photo manipulation with the goal of making fanciful, fun, beautiful, composite art.

I started my journey into composite work about 5 years ago, after seeing some other artists’ work online. I was drawn to the general aesthetic of the surreal landscapes and characters. I love that the only limit is one’s imagination.
After wading through a myriad of different tutorials and speed paintings over the past few years, I was able to master the different tools that allow me to create the kind of art that you see in my profile. If you would like to learn how to create these types of images, I would love to share what I’ve learned with
you and help you achieve your creative ambitions.

Essentially, I am here to offer you a direct approach- no need to wade through fragmented videos or look in different places for help with different skills; I am your one-stop-shop. Simply contact me, and depending on your skill level with Photoshop, we can create an outline of lessons that will work for you. I will also share resources I have used over the years and offer my tips and shortcuts, so you can expand your skill base and increase your skill level, fast.

I hope we get a chance to work together!

Kevin’s photoshop skills are only rivaled by his unusual imagination. His mind lives outside the box and his solutions to any challenge—whether it be a photomanipulation, textures, brush uses or any other art/design problem—blew my mind. Watching him teach and explain things to myself as well as to young artists/designers was not only fun but very easy to follow and understand. I can not recommend Kevin enough.

Kevin is the perfect TECH teacher: patient, creative, and invested in your success. Photoshop can be intimidating. So can trying to learn it from an expert. Kevin breaks it down for you so your choices become intuitive. I never felt he was talking down to me. Kevin only ever encouraged. He provided a great balance of tech know-how and creative inspiration. He has given me the confidence to express myself!

Hello,
My name is Steve and I've been teaching for over 30 years in high school and college. My main field was Algebra and Geometry but nothing has excited me more than teaching Excel and watching people understand what it can do for them and their business. Excel is very powerful but also can be very simple - it all depends on what you want to do with it. You don't have to learn it all and I will work hard to give you just what you need while pointing out possible topics you might be interested in. Also, I will help you after the lessons are over with creating formulas and/or troubleshooting. I have taught classes in many of the businesses in East Tennessee as well as two community colleges. I hope you will give me a chance to help you!
