Every year my students play their memorized pieces for a guild adjudicator who gives them a report card with their good performance praised and their weak points pointed out. This helps each student improve from year to year and feel pride in their pianistic achievements!

I began teaching piano in High School to pay for my lessons. My last year in High School I had the privilege of going to Germany and taking piano at Wiesbaden Conservatory. Through College (Abilene Christian) I accompanied voice lessons for my spending money. After I took my first pedagogy class, I was hooked-I have been teaching ever since.

As one of my students you will be  encouraged to learn some songs by ear and be creative by making up their own pieces. You will definitely need to learn to read notes, as well. 

Each lesson will have you playing what you practiced during the week.  And each lesson will also have you learn something to take home to perfect.

But most of all, I would hope you would leave with a sense of well-being, confidence and encouragement in the wonderful experience of making music on the piano.

I love for my students to perform as much as possible. We play in nursing homes, assisted living facilities and recitals. If a student comes up with a performance venue, we will certainly try to do it.

I have been teaching for years with all ages of students.  Piano lessons will include learning to read notes, ear training, theory and technique, creating your own music and learning to play the piano with others.  The curriculum varies with individual needs. My philosophy is a little laid back but firm in keeping to the basics of music theory.

Sue is amazing! My daughter LOVES going to piano. She teaches to the child...my daughter like to play by ear and practice until she has memorized something. Sue is patient with her process and encourages and challenges her along the way!

Sue is a wonderful teacher.  She has brought many of her students to play at Christmas for our annual bank Open House.  It is a delight to see and hear the student's progress from year to year.
