Ceylon Narvelle M. II is a flute performance and music education student at the Boston University School of Music (BM’13, MM ‘14). He has studied with Professor Linda Toote. Mr. M. has performed in various masterclasses and workshops for professional flutists such as Trevor Wye, Marianne Gedigian, Judith Mendenhall, and Cynthia Meyers. Ensemble experience includes the MetroWest Opera Orchestra, Boston University Symphony Orchestra, Boston University Chamber Orchestra (principal), University of Rochester Symphony Orchestra (principal), and various chamber groups. As a testament to his performance abilities, Elaine Stroh, University of Rochester Music Department Chair Assistant, has said: “Ceylon’s recital was a wonderful presentation, well executed and extremely artistic.” Mr. M loves to perform for his church, school, and music community. Teaching and inspiring new generations of students through music is also one of his passions. A native of Anchorage, Alaska, Mr. M has already been offered the band director position at his old high school. At school in Boston, Mr. M is the new director of the Boston University Flute Ensemble. Outside of school, he is a substitute musician with local Boston orchestras and has worked as a flute instructor with Making Music Matters – Boston. He has also served as a Teaching Assistant with the Boston Flute Academy. Previous instructors include Carmen Lemoine, Corinne McVee, and Sharon Nowak. Lessons with Mr. M are challenging yet joyful experiences filled with singing, listening activities, instrumental technique building, composition and improvisation opportunities, as well as professional advice. Students are feel and encouraged to engage in equal dialogue with their instructor and take risks in the process of their own music making!  *** Specialties *** Classical
