Mel is an excellent instructor, not to mention his experience and expertise as a violinist. Our son is five and looks forward to his lessons. We do not have a music background, and with Mel's instruction we have found it easy to practice at home.

Although I was forced to select a subject of Acoustic Guitar on the review form, my children and I have also taken lessons with Mel Parker on every subject in the pick list plus a few more. Theory, composition, recording. Improvisation techniques, electric guitar, acoustic guitar, banjo, violin, bass, mandolin, ear training, techniques applied to all music genre's, group and solo performance techniques, ETC! The main point here is that as an accomplished and talented musician, Mel Parker is fluent in the music industry and very skilled at teaching all skill levels, from beginner to pro. He can teach very rigid focused lessons or he can shift and adjust the lesson instantly to meet the needs of the student. My children have been able to explore and experiment different instruments, genre's and other areas of the music industry as their interests grew and changed over the years. They have had many changes in their interests but the one constant has been the TEACHER! It is wonderful to be able to have 1 teacher adjust his education for the ever changing and growing needs of my family. Both of my children are now very accomplished award winning performers and we all agree that Mel Parker has been/is the primary influencer in their accomplishments.

My daughter has been one of Mel's violin students for 5+ years. He is an accomplished musician who teaches his students with a kind and gracious demeanor. She also has had the opportunity to play solo's in recitals and yearly contests that Mel's studio arranges for his students. Because of his well-rounded attention to instruction, practice, and performance, her growth as a violinist has been immense. This growth has also allowed her to compete at the district and state level in school.

Each lesson is designed to create the best learning environment for each individual student!
Students are encouraged to grow in their love for music while they are learning the violin!
There are recitals and outreach concerts in the community at the end of every school break (December and May/June).

About Heather
Teaching violin has been a rewarding experience for myself and my students! Using the Suzuki method, students are able to play the violin at young ages which is great for brain development, learning to control sounds, and also learning to be disciplined in as as they learn to practice in small amounts! The Suzuki method is a great starting point, but other methods are also fun: Mark O'Conner, All for Strings, Essentials for Strings, Sassmanshaus, etc.

Gary had his first lesson and got over the jitters of being "the first time" as well as the app which made us nervous "Yes dad especially!" being I was used to old fashion face to face lessons back in the dinasour era.

Thanks Jonathan for the great lesson and introduction to this program.

I look forward to more future lessons.

Jonathan is an excellent instructor. My lessons were scheduled in the evenings and he accommodated my busy work schedule. He presented the lessons clearly; he adapted my lesson to my learning style and never forced me into just 1 style of learning. He also gave me a lesson manual and discussed alternative ways of practicing at home. Joanathan is extremely knowledgeable, I would recommend him to anyone looking to learn violin.

About Sara
Hi! My name is Sara. My studio began in 2000, teaching one violin student. I took a break and went to college to earn my A.A. in Music and my Piano Performance Certificate from Riverside Community College in California. I graduated Great Distinction and was on the Dean's list. I received many piano and academic scholarships. While in college I started my studio in Riverside California teaching Piano to an autistic child. I taught him 3 times a week and made exceptional progress. I enjoyed it so much I started teaching full time in 2008 teaching piano, harp, violin, voice, guitar, flute and clarinet. Soon I had 50 students and created a 501 (c) (3) non-profit music school. My students and I perform for the public, including nursing homes. The performances are important for the students progress as well as the Piano Guild where students are
adjudicated by judges in a non competitive environment. Moving back to my hometown, I am excited to meet new students!

Christina is super patient with my teenage girls! Her gift has so graciously been translated into a new creative outlet for my girls! She has cultivated the art of teaching in such a way that my kids treat their lesson like a session. There's a sense if appreciation woven into the way Christina teaches that helps her students love what they are learning! Makes nagging the girls to do daily practice a non-issue! They love trying out what they've learned! Love, love Christina! She is truly a gem! -Shana W. (Cassie and Scotlyn's mom)

I build students' techniques from the ground up. Fundamentals are a big part of my teaching philosophy, as is note reading. Most important, however, is that students continue to love the instrument and look forward to having it in their hands. I use a variation of the Suzuki method to accomplish this.

About Robbie
When I was 5, my mom told me I could take lessons on any instrument I'd like. I chose the flute. She asked me what my second choice was.

I've played violin for 17 years. A graduate of the Suzuki method, I grew up in Denver, where I performed with the Denver Young Artists Orchestra. During senior year of high school, I became a studio assistant for my teacher, and I started teaching privately myself.

I got my Bachelor's in Music from Dartmouth, where I studied with Liesl Doty. I'm currently studying with Charles Wetherbee at CU Boulder, where I'm getting my masters in Violin Performance.

I spent the previous year living in teaching in Minneapolis. I had a large studio of younger students, and I love starting kids on the instrument. My studio is Boulder is mostly comprised of undergraduates, but I'm happy to teach students of al
l ages and abilities. I strive to be compassionate and fair as a teacher, just as my Suzuki teachers were to me.

I have been teaching children of all age groups to acquire a solid foundation in violin playing. Whether it be pre-K beginners, or high school students getting ready for college auditions, I will communicate with the students and parents to set a number of goals to achieve.
I also welcome adult students, beginners and amateur enthusiasts alike.

In addition to gaining expertise in the techniques in violin playing, students in my studio will be given opportunities to gain comprehensive music knowledge including theory, sight singing, ear training, and any relevant music history, as the above-mentioned knowledge are indispensable elements in violin playing. Singing and clapping are essential parts of the lesson. When students are equipped with the basics, they can play anything and make the music they want.

About Dongbin
I have been a professional violin performer and teacher for over 15 years. I am the winner of the 2011 Central Washington University Symphony Orchestra Concerto Competition. I have previously served as the concertmaster at The Hartt Symphony Orchestra.

During my time at The Hartt School, from which I earned Master of Music and Graduate Professional Diploma, I was appointed as the violin technique class instructor at The Hartt School, teaching undergraduate violin major students.

In addition to working as a violin instructor at local private schools, I also teach privately at students' homes. I am requested to substitute for faculty at The Hartt School Community Division time to time, filling in to teach violin and coach chamber music groups.

My goals as a teacher are:
1. To work to build a sound foundation in technique to provide stude
nts with a solid base upon which to grow their musicality.
2. Promote and nurture students' interest in music by identifying their passion and strengths in violin playing.
3. Provide students with opportunities to perform to and work to help them find confidence in their playing.
