Music Composition/Theory, Film Scoring, Hammered Dulcimer, Drum Set, Percussion, Beginner Piano

I am a highly experienced (PhD in music composition/theory), well-rounded and flexible musician. I have previously served as an Associate Instructor of Music Theory and Composition lecture-style courses at UC San Diego, where I received hundreds of positive student reviews. I have worked with students of all age groups, including young students with Autism. I value diverse perspectives, and will be passionate about helping you achieve your goals whatever they may be. My strengths lie in the topics of music composition/theory, film scoring, and hammered dulcimer, drum set, percussion and piano (beginner-intermediate) performance. My teaching style is flexible according to the student's needs and wishes. I can be highly structured or more loose with my curriculum and teaching style. I have a unique perspective through my studies from UC San Diego, a leading institution in music for its experimental music program and teaching methods. I enjoy applying my specialized knowledge to lessons in order to broaden the student's horizons. I believe in not only learning material/exercises, but finding ways to express the material in an evocative manner to bring your musicality to the highest level possible. Please don't hesitate to contact me to further discuss my teaching approach and to schedule a lesson.
