My philosophy as a teacher is to not only give every student a solid foundation of good technique and practice habits, but to most importantly foster their sense of musicality and expressiveness on the guitar. Having played and been dedicated to mastery of the guitar since the age of 10, I have found that the two greatest joys of playing regardless of skill level is 1. To find your "voice" on guitar and create your own music and 2. Playing and making music with other musicians. I aim to help any player of any age achieve these wonderful benefits by teaching music theory in a fun and practical way alongside developing their technical skills in engaging ways. I still consider myself a student of the instrument even after 14 years of playing and learning many styles, so students will also enjoy learning about (and from!) other great players and musicians as part of their curriculum, giving them an insightful history into the playing of various great guitarists and the timeless music they have been a part of. Everyone learns in different ways, and that is why I go the extra mile to make tailor made learning materials such as chord charts, tablature sets, and even backing tracks for students to jam to and learn with.
At the end of the day, I believe that learning guitar should be both challenging AND fun, and my ultimate goal is to make every lesson and every practice routine I teach to be exactly those two things.

About Zachariah R.

Hello! My name is Zach, and I have been in love with the guitar since I was 10 years old. Over the 14 years that I've been playing now, I have always been hungry to learn and play in many different styles, starting with blues and folk as a young boy and going on to learn jazz, country, R&B, metal, and even dabbling in classical and flamenco. Studying and understanding these styles and all the wide variety of techniques they use is something I love to share with my students, as I believe that whatever style or genre one prefers, it is still tremendously beneficial to learn from all types of music.

As a self-taught guitarist, I realize how difficult it can be to make progress without guidance on proper technique and practice habits. That's why I like to apply my years of trial and error and the knowledge I've gained from studying great players and playing with talented musicians towards helping students overcome those hurdles faster, make greater progress and (as a result) have even more fun playing the guitar. That is why I am always happy to find ways to make that possible according to each student's unique learning needs and personal goals by providing them with tailor made learning materials and practice routines, as well as to encourage them to experiment and explore the guitar in their own way aside from regular practice.

Zach is a longtime friend and bandmate. Zach taught me music theory after I spent years and thousands of dollars on university courses that ended up failing. You could not hope for a more kind or patient instructor. He will make everything make sense, whether you’re new or like me and have been self taught for 13+ years. Any style of guitar or technique he will be able to teach you, as he has mastered so many different ways of expression on the guitar. A lesson with Zach will always be money well spent. Check out his YouTube channel, the proof is in his playing.
