Taking lessons with Yako was a pleasure. She was always on time, we worked well together on the scheduling and choice of music. I have gained improvement in my music reading skills, my ability to interpret correct timing (3/4, 3/8 and 4/4), dotted eighth and quarter notes, (which I sincerely lacked before), doing trills (not good at it yet but getting there with practice), and my fingering is so much better. Of course, I need to practice more on my hand/wrist speed up and down the keyboard, which is slower than I would like at this point, but that is because I don't practice enough. If I plan to start taking lessons again, I definitely would like to get Yako back, if I can.

Yako is an excellent teacher. Some problems at times with communication as her English is limited, but we manage to get over that hump. My problem with playing the piano were multiple: timing, fingering, and moving quickly up and down the keyboard and we continue to work on that. I am doing better since starting with Yako, but I still have a way to go. I taught myself to read notes over 30 years ago, but never learned timing and my fingering was really bad. I am happy to have this experience at 74 years old; it is my last chance to become better. I rate myself early intermediate. Wonderful experience....thanks Yako!

At 66 yrs. old and never having read a note in my life, I was quite apprehensive taking my first lesson. Yako put me at ease immediately. She is patient and encouraging. After only two lessons, I learned my scales and was playing some songs. I recommend her very highly.
