My name is Xiaoyan Wang. I hold a bachelor’s degree in musicology, two master’s  degrees in piano performance and piano pedagogy, and a doctor of musical arts degree (the music version of a PhD) in piano performance. 
Teaching the piano is my passion. Piano lessons are  incredibly worthwhile, but with so many options, the journey can be intimidating. My work guides students and parents on a clear path so that piano lessons are not only fun and exciting, but life-changing.
 
My Teaching Approach
Every human being is different, not only with different personalities and learning styles, but also with different goals for their music. This being the case, piano lessons are customized to individual students’ goals and needs.
While my approach is customized to each student, there are certain essentials that I reinforce in all piano lessons. These essentials include: detailed practice instructions, performance opportunities, and ongoing instructions.

I have been teaching piano since I was 18 years old, and have found it to be the most rewarding aspect of being an artist. Not only do I have the opportunity to guide the next generation of young musicians, but teaching also gives me the opportunity to learn about myself and humanity itself.
