    About Xiao C.

    Chinese-born pianist Xiao Chen is actively engaged as a solo and chamber musician. She has performed numerous concerts and recitals throughout the U.S., China, and Europe. Her solo recital in Shanghai Concert Hall was well received and interviewed by Shanghai Youth Daily (“Her energetic, exquisite, breathtaking performance… impressed the audience”). Her performance of Rachmaninoff’s second piano concerto with UCLA Symphony received a standing ovation. She is the prize winner of many competitions including American Prize, Seattle Frances Walton Competition, American Protégé International Competition, The Muse International Competition, Grand Prize Virtuoso International Music Competition, and The Steinway Youth Piano Competition in China. As a winner of Seattle Frances Walton Competition, she had concert tour in Washington state in September and performed in radio live broadcast concert at Classical KING FM 98.1. She also collaborated with the non-profit organization Education through Music---Los Angeles and played concerts in schools throughout the city. Ms. Chen completed her Doctor of Musical Arts degree at University of California, Los Angeles, where she has been a teaching assistant. She received her Master of Music degree from The Juilliard School in New York. She earned a Bachelor of Music degree in Piano Performance from Bard College Conservatory of Music, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Language and Literature from Bard College. Ms. Chen has been invited to perform in numerous music festivals including The Morningside Bridge Summer Festival in Canada, Yellow Barn Music Festival in Vermont, Pianofest Summer Festival in East Hampton, Aspen Music Festival in Colorado, Manchester Music Festival in Vermont, and Perugia Music Fest in Italy. Ms. Chen is an easy going person, with passionate and friendly teaching style. She loves interacting with students and telling stories in her music teaching. She also inspires students to develop their imagination by connecting music with paintings and images.
