    About Usman S.

    (1)
Usman is a first generation Pakistani American drummer based out of New York City. He has toured and performed with various artists in the New York city jazz scene (Roy Hargrove, Harold Mabern, Brandon Lee, Saul Rubin, etc). He has also performed internationally, most notably as a Fulbright Scholar for Burkina Faso's annual jazz festival, Jazz-A-Ouaga. Usman has worked as a freelance musician for various jazz, folk, and pop artists. In 2014 he began accompanying modern and ballet dance classes at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts. It is while accompanying dance classes that Usman began to explore and develop composition, arranging, and song writing. He released his first record (Dreamcolors) in 2017 which features his own compositions as well as jazz standards by John Coltrane, Herbie Hancock, and Stevie Wonder. Usman works a day job both as a freelance musician and a dance class accompanist for the various companies and schools in New York City.

    Freelance Musician

    USMAN

I have been working fulltime as a freelance musician since 2010. My experience extends beyond just playing jazz gigs -- I've performed in musicals, dance classes, wedding bands, cover bands, etc. I also play piano and have worked professionally in New York City since 2017 as a pianist. I can help you prepare for an audition, develop better ear training, and learn the instrument you want to learn. Try me out, you'll like me!
