Hello! Thank you for your interest in taking music lessons from me. I am a professional teacher/performer with over 20 years of teaching experience and a graduate of Morehead State University Studio Music and Jazz program in 2002 specializing in the guitar. I teach guitar (acoustic or electric) to all levels, ages, and styles(jazz classical pop etc). Other subjects taught include bass guitar, ukulele, banjo, mandolin, music theory,music composition, ear training, and studio production, and music notation software. I was raised in Breaks VA, went to college in KY, and when you hear me speak you can tell because I haven't been able to shake that stubborn southern accent. I moved to California right after graduation and have lived in the south bay for over 12 years. Currently I live on the Avenues with my wife Carina, our daughter Ella and my grumpy old dog, Adagio. *** Lesson Details *** My goal as an instructor is to create a nourishing learning environment for the lesson and to make it easy for anyone to learn an instrument regardless of their musical goals. In the lessons use current technology (like YouTube or mp3's) but also embrace the traditional music education values (like theory books and hard work) that got me to this point as a musician. I strive to create a learning experience to be enjoyed by all, regardless of age, ability, or level of commitment. *** Studio Equipment *** I currently teach at her Riviera Village Music in south Redondo Beach. There is a private lesson room and a lobby waiting area for parents and guests. Parents may also sit in the lesson room if desired. The private lesson rooms include a computer/recording setup, guitar amps, digital piano, speakers, a music stand and everything else a student would need for a lesson. Just bring an instrument and away we go! *** Specialties *** I teach lots of styles, primarily rock, pop, and jazz.
